ok - we started with an infant bathtub with the seat in it.. then upgraded to without the seat.. then we bought our daughter a blow up duckie bath.. but now she's starting to outgrow it.. she's 13 months old. What's the next step in bathtubs? Is it to the adult bath? Thank you :)

What can I do next?

I put my kids in the adult bathtub without anything but a towel on the bottom from the time their umbilical cords fell off. Once they could sit up the towel was gone too.

My kids had a blast playing in the tub :) Although my floors didn't always appreciate it as much :)

Wow! You lasted so much longer than I did! My kids were in an adult bathtub as soon as they could sit. It was so much easier for me, and they had a lot more fun. My boys are definitely movers, so that might have had something to do with it.

Go for it! I highly recomend buying a rubber bathmat. Ours is by rubbermaid. It's a boring ivory color, but it covers teh entire tub. I found that most of the ones in the baby aisle only cover about half the tub. Just don't leave her alone and reminder that she needs to sit and you'll be fine. Have fun :-)

She could totally handle the adult tub alone - by alone I mean with out a seat. (NOT UNSUPERVISED!) ;) I had an infant seat for my kids and then ended up doing baths in our kichen sink for the longest time because it was SO much easier for me (I have twins and my hubby works weird hours where he was never home during bath time.... its just what worked for me at the time). If you have a sink that accomodates, this could be an option for you too. Its kind of a weird concept at first but our sink was brand new when our babies were born and very large (and deep) and I always kept it super clean with organic cleaners that were safe for them. Best wishes!

Yes--no need to keep wasting money on the kiddie tubs.

I never use the infant bathtubs...I bought the Summer one that has a little seat & a water sprayer, but found it too much of a burden to deal with.

I put the seat right into the adult tub and sit on a low stool next to the bathtub and wash the babies right in the big tub.

The adult bath, but add one of those rubbery mats to the bottom so her butt doesn't slip out from under her. And bring your phone in the bathroom with you so that when it rings, you aren't tempted to run 'real quick' to get it. Those few seconds are all it takes. (When I ever leave my son to run and grab something during bathtime, I make him "sing" to me. He's 3 now, so will sing his ABCs or something. But even when he was younger, I'd get him to sing "Old McDonald" or something like that so that I knew he was not drowning).

If she can sit up you can let her enjoy the bathtub - as is. 3" of water for her to splash in. WATCH her at all times, let her have fun with bubbles and toys. You can get a cute non slip bath mat from babies r us or Walmart - so she won't slip and fall.

If she can stand up and sit up she is ready. You can, for safety sake get those inflatable bath edge covers, i don't know what they call it... and it is the size of the inside of the bath.. But I think its a nuisance.

Good luck!

Yup. Time for the big bath!! My oldest son moved to just the tub in our bathroom at about 20 months old. He was pretty small for his age though. He was also long overdue. I say go for the big tub. Don't leave her alone for a single second though. Get everything you need before you stick her in it. Be prepared, she'll want to hang out in it even longer since there is more room to play!! Have fun!

I did the exact same thing! Loved the blow up duck! So awesome! Yes, time for tub! She'll love it! Make sure to roll up some towels on the floor to cushion your knees.

I always loved my small bathtub for the kids. They used it whenever they wanted up til age 4-5. I don't think they make it anymore but I'll try to add a link of something like it.

Here is a link, I had a couple of this style. It suctions to the bottom of the tub and you fill the tub with water and they can play and be safe.

This one is just like the ones I had but I didn't pay near that much for them. I think I got them at Walmart around $20.

******************************************************************
This is the closest that I have found to what I had. The ones that I had slide in on themselves for easy storage and they had a stiff/hard ring type thing that popped in and out, it went right in front of the baby so they could straddle it and be safe. These are good because you can use them on the kitchen table, the counter top, in the shower or tub, the water use is much less since you only fill the small tub. It is also nice because they feel independent. They have these at Walmart too.

Have fun picking the new tub!!!!

Yep, the adult bathtub with a towel on the bottom to prevent slipping.

As soon as they can sit up on their own, my kids went into the adult bath with just an inch or two of water in it. As they got older, I added more water for them to play in. This was all FULLY supervised, of course. I never left them in the tub alone, even to dash back to their room or something. Everything needs to be within your reach and ready before her bath.

hi,

Ya ,I'll do the adult bathtub with constant supervision.Just have everything right there,so no dashing into their bedroom or linen closet. And i have one rule that apply to all my children :Absolutely NO STANDING IN THE BATHTUB alone .They are 8 just turn 6 ,just turn 3 ,and almost 8 months old.The carpet bathtub are nice to have...I just do not bother anymore as mine always gets so dirty really fast and i just do not have the time to wash it all the time....But with just one or two kids it was a good idea.
hope this help N.

I'd do the adult bath, less stuff to mess with. She's old enough :)
Just gotta teach her not to stand up in the tub and such.
I miss those days, oh for my boys to be that little again, we could tear the bathroom up playing in the tub.... they always loved bathtime, it was a sport.
