New to Town! Need Doctor Advice.

Hi Knoxville Mamas! I am moving to the area very soon and need some help finding health care providers. First and foremost, I need a good pediatrician or pediatric/family nurse practitioner. I also need to find a good OB or CNM. Also will be needing dentist, eye doctor, the works. So if you have any suggestions, please send them my way and tell me what you love about your doctor!

What can I do next?

Dr. Cadigan is an amazing OB...I have seen her for several years. Through my first pregnancy and now on my second...she and her husband are in a practice together...I have heard great things about him too, but I prefer Dr. Cadigan. We live just outside Knoxville, I'm sure you can find a great pediatrician in Knoxville, but we use Dr. Clifford James in Oak Ridge...he is in practice by himself and is wonderful...great staff too. Not sure on an eye docotor...but we use Dr. Johns in Knoxville...can't recall his first name at the moment. I like the staff and dentist...my husband isn't as sure...but anyway.

Hey A.! Welcome to Knoxville; you'll love it here! We've been here since July and have really enjoyed it so far. Hubby is in the Army, so we won't be here too long and are quite sad about that!!

Anyway, our children go to Knoxville Pediatrics Weisgarber Office and see Dr. Barnes. I like him so far, but one drawback is that he is quite slow. But some other moms I have met are equally as pleased with other physicians at this practice. If you look them up on-line, you will find that they have a few different offices around K-ville.

I am newly pregnant with baby #3 and am being seen at Parkwest Women's Specialists near Parkwest Medical Center. Dr. Rebecca Walker, and 2 NP and their names are not coming to me at the moment. The pregnancy has started off quite rocky and I have been very pleased with the attention they have been giving me and my situation so far. There were quite a few others that came highly recommended, but I was limited in that not many doctors take military ins. BUT, I really have been pleased with Parkwest Women's Spec.

Not sure about dentist, eye doc, etc. but I'm sure you'll get some good feedback here!

Not sure if you are interested in preschool. My daughter goes to the Preschool Weekday at Central Bapt. Church of Bearden and we LOVE it!! She is sad on the days she doesn't go!! They also have a MOPS group that meets there that is great.

Anyway, hope this helps, let us know when you guys get here!

Hi A.,

For a pediatrician, we take our kids to Dr. Neil Feld at Tots and Teen Pediatrics. There are two locations, one near St. Marys and the other near St. Marys North. We interviewed Dr. Feld before we started going there. He spent over an hour in the evening talking to us and answering our questions. He is great with the kids and has a very calm and gentle demeanor. Sometimes you have to wait a little while (even with an appointment) but he spends the time needed with each patient (and they work in kids who are sick as well). Dr. Feld is great and the nurses are very nice too. I have met both nurse practitioners - both very nice and good with the kids.

For OB, I have gone to Dr. George Vick since I was pregnant with my first. He and his staff are just so caring. Like Dr. Feld, he also spends the time needed with his patients. The nurses at the hospital where we had both of our kids have all spoken very highly of Dr. Vick. I think that says a lot for him that he treats the people he works with well.

Don't have an eye doctor recommendation.

Best of luck with your move!
Cyndi
