Hi there! My husband and I are new to Naperville. We have a 3 1/2 year old girl and a 5 month old boy. Would like any advice on the area as we are from Georgia, and would love the opportunity to meet up with other SAHM's in the area. Would also like to meet other couples. My husband and I like to spend as much time together as possible and would like to meet another couple or two to hang out with in the area.

What can I do next?

We just moved from CA this summer and have joined the Naperville Newcomers and Neighbors Club. They have loads of activities and a Moms and Tots group that has playgroups, etc. They are having an open house at the 95th library on 9/10/08.

Hi A.! Welcome to the area!

I have a 3 1/2 year old girl and an 8 month old boy, so our kids are very close in age. I just joined a group on meetup.com called Moms of Infants. There are a lot of moms on there, and tons of activities planned each week.

Hi I am from TX we have been here 3 years. I love it when I find someone from the South. People here are great and I love it all but the winters are the worse. Not to scare you but they are very gloomy and long. You need to get out now to meet people. People don't get out a lot in the winter. I joined the Naperville Newcomers and Neighbors Club. They have the best Mom and Tots program. Their kick off meeting is in Sept. I can get you the Mom in charge sooner if you need it. I am at 87th and Book Rd. I stay home and keep a few children in my neighborhood. I have a two old daughter and two boys ten and one in college. Our daughter is our princess too. If you need anything call me. Southern gals need to stick together. My best friend out here is from the South. We are just a little bit Southern. Good Luck, T. White

Go to www.meetup.com and search for "Little Smiles of Naperville". We are a great group of SAHMs and all the kids in the group are right around both of your kids ages. We have alot of fun and do lots of fun stuff with our kids and with Mom's Night Out. We are also planning a family picnic with the group for early September. Hope to see you join us. And welcome to Naperville! You will LOVE it here! So much to do!

Hi A.,
Welcome to Naperville. I have two young children as well and I am thrilled to be in Mothers and More DuPage County. They have outings for moms, bookclub, and activities for kids. We are getting ready for our huge resale in september. I also recommend MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers)at Our Savious Lutheran Church. Both groups offer tremendous support to mothers. Another one that is not local but has awesome support is called Hearts at Home. They sponsor a national convention in March in Bloomington which is not far and their website (heartsathome.com) is filled with information and links.
You are also welcome to join our playgroup. We have about 15 moms in a group but we are spliting to two different days this year due to preschool schedules. Contact me if you want more info about any of these opportunities. Welcome and good luck.

Hi A.

Welcome to Naperville! I moved here in 2002(was living in Chicago) and absolutely love it. My husband, John, and I have a son who just had his 3rd birthday this week. Since my son is an only child I am always looking for opportunities to find little friends for him, as well as make friends for myself in the area. I am also a SAHM, but do some very part time work from home. Please feel free to contact me, my phone number is ###-###-####. I would be happy to show you all the wonderful ammenities this area has. What part of Naperville do you live in? I know how it is to relocate to a new area. I am originally from Michigan, and I moved to Chicago 11 years ago. We now live in south Naperville and love it! Making new friends definatly helps with the adjustment. Hope to hear from you!

Hi A., welcome to Naperville! Look into dupagemothersandmore.org. Its a non-profit mother's group that I belong to and love! It really saved me when I moved to Naperville. They do mom's outings and playgroups.

Thanks!

Hi A., I suggest checking out the website meetup.com.
You can do a search by zip code for "stay at home M." or "moms group" and you'll see various results.

Haha, another Meetup person beat me to it! You can also check out http://workwmn.meetup.com/300/ It's another mommy group in the area (North Naperville/South Warrenville) and I think a couple of our members are also in the Little Smiles of Naperville group. We have activities for SAHMs, working moms (on evenings and weekends) playgroups, family events, and couples only events. We're also compiling a list of trusted sitters, and some of our members do a babysitting exchange so that we don't have to shell out the money for a sitter. You missed our cocktail party last weekend, and we have a trip to the DuPage Children's Museum coming up. Best of luck, and let me know if you have any questions!
