New to Katy: Need Remodeling Advice for Our New Home
We are just moving to Katy and headed into an older home that's in need of updating. I would GREATLY appreciate ideas and advice about reasonable yet good interior painters, carpeting, as well as resources for remodeling a kitchen and master bath. I find that my Mom-friends always have the best advice! Thank you very much in advance.

My husband is an ex-contractor/master carpenter and has great ideas on remodeling if he knows what the project is. He also picks up some jobs on the side as well. I would be happy to ask him any specific questions you have or get you in touch with him for you to ask if you would like.

I know your request is a month old but I just now saw it.
We did a TON of remodeling to our home. It was very dated (pink back splash tile in the kitchen, you get the idea).
Anyway, we didn't have $50,000 to remodel.
My husband sketched out our kitchen, I can send you before and after pictures. Love it.
One of his best friends is a contractor. The use a professional carpenter who has worked in this area for 20 or so years. He has worked in million dollar homes. Beautiful work but his prices are sooooo reasonable. He works on his own so you aren't paying extra to cover companies overhead.
My husband just was in Katy with his friend to provide a consultation and quotes on remodeling for a couple. Let me know if you are interested.

Go to www.servicemagic.com and type in the kind of remodeling you want and check out the different companies that are out there in Katy. The companies PAY to be on this website, so check out the remarks by their customers. You may be contacted by several to get bids. Republic Roofing did an awesome job for us and I found them on the site. Hope this helps.
You can also call City Hall and see if they have suggestions, but beware, Katy is VERY strict about having all permits in place and doing inspections at intermittent times during the remodelling- even to replace your hot water heater! They have certain building, plumbing and electrical code restrictions, too, so don't try to sneak something by them or you may have your job halted until it is permitted and passed inspections.
Here is their website and read the Code of Ordinances on the left side.

One of my friends has a company. pHd Construction. You should check them out! Also, if you need any help with landscape or anything another friend of mine just opened up a landscaping business with great rates. Good Luck finding someone!!! If you call either of these people just let them know that I referred you. My name is N.(sounds like Nicky) Cowan.
