New to Area, Looking for MD to Help with PCOS Related Infertility

We just moved to Vancouver, and Ive been ttc since my 21 month old son was 6 weeks old (I correctly assumed it would take this long), with the last 11 months of that being on fertility meds. We're now on injectible cycles. I had to take a break because of cysts/overstimulation, and then we moved here, but now Im ready to get back on board and try again. Id love to not reach the 2 year mark that I did when we were ttc our son, but I am not sure on choosing the right doc out of all the choices around here. Where I came from I only had 5 choices!

Does anyone have experience with PCOS/infertility/injectibles that could recommend a doc for me? Id like to pick up where we left off with injects and not have to go through the whole "starting over" bit.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi S.,

Oregon Reproductive Medicine
John Hesla, MD
http://www.oregonreproductivemedicine.com/

OHSU Fertility Consultants
http://www.fertilityoregon.com/clinic/index.htm
Marsha Jan Gorrill, M.D.

It's good to interview a couple places. We went through Oregon Reporductive Medicine and it is one of the best in Oregon. Dr. Hesla is very kinda and is knowledgable in both fertility and PCOS.

We also interviewed Dr. Gorrill only because after about two years of trying nothing was happening and was impressed with OHSU fertility fasicity.

I should also mention that nothing happening for me has more to do with my age (43) than anything, not because of the care that I received from Dr. Hesla. He is an excellent Dr. I also have PCOS and was blessed with a beautiful boy 5 yrs ago.

We researched many places before making our decision and feel that Oregon Reproductive Medicine is excellent. However, we were also very impressed with OHSU.

I hope this helps.

Take care.

K.

I don't have PCOS, but I did IVF at both OHSU, with Dr. Gorill, and ORM, with Dr. Bankowski. Didn't care for Dr. Gorill's personality. Loved Dr. Bankowski. I preferred the support staff at ORM to OHSU's nurses and coordinators, too.

Hi,
This isn't quite the advice you requested, so sorry for that, but my sister-in-law has pcos and ttc for 10 years before she got pregnant with her daughter (now 1). When she finally got pregnant it was not with the help of any fertility doctor or anything that anyone can put their finger on except coming out to visit us in Portland (where she was around a lot of pregnant women, including me, so that might have helped). But while I was being nosy and trying to help them I bought a book (and read it before I mailed it) called "The Infertility Cure" by Randine Lewis. It was incredible and it convinced me that acupuncture and herbs could be more helpful than mainstream medicine. So I know it's not what you're used to hearing, but I think you should look into it even to do in conjunction with the other fertility treatments.

Good luck, sincerely.
