New Stove!

Hey mamas!

After thinking that my life was boring and nothing new was going on, my stove decided to mix things up and knock out another burner this morning. I was ok with one not working, but now with the second out, it's both large ones and I think I have to break down and get a new one. I will never take the status quo for granted again!

So, who loves their stove, what kind is it and where is your favorite place to buy appliances?

What can I do next?

I am a chronic renter so I have basic stoves for the most part, but I have gotten to try out all kinds from glass to electric to gas range and my fav by far is gas range. The brand I have found to be most dependable is GE and the "go to" place I know of is Sears. Hope this helps!

I have a Frigidair and it is a glass top. I love it and we have had it for about 6 years now. It still works great, oven is nice and roomy, and heats fairly quickly! We love Nebraska Furniture Mart, and they will price match anything that is the exact same brand and model.

Maytag flat-top range with convection oven purchased at Lowe's simply because they are close and offer a 10% military discount. I grew up cooking on gas and love it, but I am having quite the infatuation with my flat-top as well.

I have a Maytag. Just got it last year after my sister tried to burn my house down in my old one!! (she put a pan that should've been in the oven and it caught fire!)

Any way - I have two large burners and two small burners. Heats fast. Oven seems a little more roomy - I don't know that for a fact - but it sure feels that way.

We bought it at Home Depot for $224. - yep - you read that right. It has two scratches on the side...so the price dropped from $590 to $224.

I LOVE my stove. It's a glass top stove with a warming burner and convection oven. IT is SOOO easy to clean. if soemthign gets stuck on it you just take a razer blade to it and scrape it off
We got it at best buy on sale.
I don't like going to places like sears, etc because they work on commission.

I have a GE, a few years old, with a glass top, warming zone and warning drawer.
I'm very happy with it.
We have a local store that has GREAT appliance prices AND a scratch-n-dent location so we can usually get a real bargain--as most appliances are positioned such that the sides don't show. I think ours has a scratch or dent on O. of the sides.

Nebraska Furniture Mart has dozens of stoves from which to choose. They also have financing, which is wonderful.

I would recommend my stove, as it also has a refrigeration feature so you can put your food in it in the morning and then it becomes a stove at the pre-set time you set it to start cooking. It is a Polara, made by Whirlpool. But alas, I think they discontinued it. It is phenominal and has given me an extra hour after I get home from work. Just be sure to get an oven that has a self-clean feature and a convection oven.

Depends what kind of range top you have, but you may be able to just buy a new burner unit. That's what we did for our electric stove for maybe $16 vs a brand new unit.

I had a similar situation to you. When the oven decided to heat intermittently it was time for it to go.

I actually switched to gas and am less than thrilled. I swear it takes longer to boil water, I had to find all of my pot lids again, it doesn't broil my steaks to a crisp like I was used to, and in the summer time it heats up the house causing the AC to run more. Now in the winter time I don't mind it so much. I have told my husband that I want a summer electric stove and gas winter stove. He just gives me the 'you're out of your mind' look.

I also bought mine at the store of which Denise speaks and got an awesome deal.

When recently replacing my dishwasher I found that sometimes the small local (non chain) stores are the way to go. The one I went to gave me a steal on last year's dishwasher model which could still be ordered in.
