New Church Home

I have been attending the same church since I was 2. My husband and I finally feel accepted there after we no longer part of certain groups in our church. Well, we recently had a baby and have come to realize that where we currently go to church will no longer work for us when our daughter gets to be about 18-24 months old. Are there any churches in the Edmonds/Lynnwood/Mountlake Terrace area that have lots of young families? I'm open to suggestions.

What can I do next?

It depends on what religion you are. My kids went to St. Luke Catholic Church in Shoreline and then the school. It was a wonderful experience. A parish with a school has many children of all ages.

We attend Mars Hill Church and our northend campus meets in Shoreline at Crista/Kings School in the auditorium. There are tons of young families and it is easy to meet and get to know other parents of babies the same age. Come check it out, services are at 9 and 11 am and 5 pm on Sundays. www.marshillchurch.org

We have been at Alderwood Community Church for six years and LOVE it! There are tons of things for kids and we have a wonderful MOPS group of about 80 women and their babies/kids. There's also an evening Moms group on Wednesday night for Moms of Babies through elementary age. The pastors are all on the young side and give very relevant messages. Lots of friendly people--many young families. Wonderful music and drama department too. Check out our website for more info: www.alderwoodchurchfamily.org. Hope you'll visit sometime soon!

It really depends on what type of church you are loking for. Howevever, both the United Methodist Church of Edmonds (on Caspers and 9th in downtown Edmonds) and Trinity Lutheran on 196th have lots of families and many children's programs including youth choirs, youth groups, and preschools) I have also heard that the church in downtown Edmonds (I think it;'s on Bell Street, the white one with the bell tower, I think it;s called Sound something Christian Church) has lots of families, but I don't actually know anyone who attends personally, Also, Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Edmonds has many families if you are Catholic. I also know soemone you goes to Alderwood Community Church in Lynnwood and know that it has many young families. Hope that helps!

Hi H.,
I would like to invite you to our church: http://www.citycalvarychapel.org/. We are located in Shoreline. We have a large number of families with young children. We even have a New Mom's support group. I've been a part of this church for several years now & can't imagine going anywhere else.

I am sure you will get tons of responses from everyone raving about their church but I have to add to them. We go to Eastlake Community Church in Kirkland, we are moving the church to Bothell in a few months as we are growing to big for our location now. They have the most wonderful set up for kids. The website is Eastlakecc.com, check it out if you have any more questions feel free to email me. T.

I have friends who attend Alderwood Community Church, and there seem to be lots of young families there. I attended MOPS there (once) I'm not an early morning girl, and MOPS is every other Tuesday 9am to 11am. I think it is important to consider location first, when deciding to move churches. The closer to home, the less likely you will be to give up...changing churches is hard to do.
Of course you may decide that you love where you're going now, or that you need to drive a little further, but that's my 2 cents. Start close to home, and gradually "sample" churches a little further away. And try to visit 2x...sometimes you have a completely different experience at the same place.
Good luck, and God bless

I also have to give a big thumbs up to Eastlake Community Church. Everyone is so welcoming and the kids program is fantastic! I like to keep things close to home, but for the past year I have been driving down to Kirkland and it has been so worth it.
