New Cell Phone Plan

I am looking to replace my cell phone and get a new plan, as the company I am with is merging and canceling all contracts soon. I use no more than 800- 1000 minutes per month and most of the time, much less (Average 600 or less 8 months of the year). My husband and I have two cell phones and share a 500 weekday/3000 evening and weekend plan for 59.99 plus taxes. It has served us well, but I am looking to economize. I looked at AAA and they have a similar plan for two phones for 60.00 plus taxes and 1200 anytime minutes per month and no contracts. Any great ideas? I would love to hear!
Thanks ladies!
J.

What can I do next?

Not sure if they have this in your area, but my sister and brother recenlty went with Boostmobile. They cost 50 a month for unlimited text, minutes and i think internet. I don't know if they have shared plans, but you could check.

We use prepaid Tracfones... They're not fancy or flashy by any means, but our cell phone bill went from $60/month to around $15-$20 at the most (for both phones together). That is, of course, after you buy the phone initally. Our's were only $15 phones, so that's no big expense. If you don't care about having all the ringtones, camera, etc. I would definitely suggest going the prepaid route.

I have had both Sprint and Verizon. I SO prefer Verizon!!!! It has served us well since we have had them in the 6 years we have been with them! I have not had any dropped calls on my end in that many years and when we are up north we are the only cell phone service that get recieve or make calls. (that is if you apply the updates often)

If you are ever in the Mall of America, go to the Best Buy Mobile store (first floor next to Old Navy) - they can help you look at all the plans avaiable and help you pick the plan that is right for you and your family. They are non-commission and are completely informed on all the differences in plans!

They helped me a lot and removed a lot of the stress.

We have only had AT&T/Cingular and Verizon, and I love Verizon. I have only had positive experience with their customer service. They screwed up the bill for a few months, and fixed it right on the spot and went back to the months it was charging me the new service and fixed it. It took me a couple months to see it because my hubby pays for it and I saw the bill one day and said no that's not right thats too high. I emailed them and they had it fixed in a matter of an hour. I would never go back to AT&T so many dropped calls, poor customer service, coverage area sucked, seemed overpriced. Plus with Verizon you have free minutes with other Verizon users, works great for me and hubby!!

Hi J.:
I have US Celluar and love them. The customer service is great and in 3.5 yrs I have only had maybe 5 dropped calls. I have the local/regional calling plan and that allows me to be as far west as the Minnesota/Dakotas border and east to the Michigan east border and south into Oklahoma.

We love US Cellular, we have free incoming calls and our nights and weekends start at 7 pm. I know you guys don't use your phone as much as we do, but my husband's phone is constantly ringing, and we have never even come close to going over on our minutes since we don't use our time unless we call someone. They also have great coverage where we are. Hope you find one that works for you!
