Bank of America is a large chain that seems to have branches everywhere.
For mom's groups, go to www.meetup.com. I found a great group for my daughter and I on there.
Good luck with your move!

Commerce Banks have great hours, ATMs and are located everywhere! Try looking into some local churches for MOPs groups. It's a group for Mothers of Pre-schoolers.
They have socials for the moms and child care for the kids. It's a great group. I hope you enjoy Philly and have a good new start! Take care

Philadelphia has a large number of credit unions and almost all of them have open there doors to Philadelphia residents. I belong to American Heritage Federal Credit Union. They do not have a lot of locations in the city but all the ATM's at Wawa's and Police stations are free. Plus the rest of there fees are very low, and the rates they have for loans seem to be pretty good. i heard Wachovia was getting help from the goverment so I don't know if I would trust my money with them.
By the way Fishtown is pretty cool, check out Johnny Brendas for local beer and good burgers, and COPA soaps is in Fishatown too.
Welcome!

all the Wawa's around here have no-surcharge ATMs... if you join a credit union they wave the fees for most tranactions. I wouldn't recommend Commerce just because they are changing over to TD and it doesn't seem to be a smooth transition. Others around here are Sovereign, Wachovia and PNC
Good luck with the move

I'm not particularly fond of PNC, but it seems like everyone here uses it. There's a BofA in Fishtown. I think they're great. The real reason I'm responding is that there is the Neighborhood Parenting Program for playgroups. It's great. They have a website, so you can check it out. I try and go every Thursday and some Tuesday evenings with my 2. Good luck with the move.
