New Baby on the Way, They Need Financial Help

My daughter and son-in-law is expecting their 2nd child. He just got laid off 3 weeks ago. Daughter is on medical leave. His employer did not get the paper work done in time so they can get a bridge card to help them for the month of July.

We know that Love In Christ and Salvation Army requires classes for help and buy that time the baby will be here. She is due in 3 to 4 weeks.

They are having the same gender so clothing is not a issue and she still has all the baby furniture. She has been buying some formula, and she was ready to start to buy diapers. All she has is only 1 dozen. The 1 dozen will not last very long.

Is there any suggestions that can help them in their time of need?

What can I do next?

No need to buy formula, have her sign up for WIC, go fill out an application for assitance at local Family Independance agency. Make sure you check for medical, cash, and food assitance, fill out a seprerate application for dayacare and they will pay for daycare while dad looks for job and mom is having baby. Go through the Work Forst program in your area to help find a job, people there are very helpful. Love Inc does not require classes and will help with all kinds of needs, even a new crib if you need it. Also go to your local church and ask them to put in bullentin your specific needs for the baby and God will provide. It can be a difficult time but the joy of a baby will help ease the pain while you get through it.

If they go to Family Independence Agency now they can fill out the forms and they also can inquire about emergency assistance. They may still be able to get a partial grant for June and immediate assistance for July. The forms just need to be completed and returned IMMEDIATELY and assistance goes back to the day FIA received completed forms.
Hope this helps :)

They will definitely qualify for WIC.
Free formula
milk
cheese
beans
cereal
baby cereal
etc.
not diapers though
as for those she could buy bulk/generic at Sam's or Costco?
Even though it is a second baby~ may I suggest you have a "diaper/meal" shower? I've been to many of these and it's fun! Have family members bring snacks, use email and phone calls to save on postage (if necessary) and it's nothing for each person to spend $10- $12 on a bag of diapers and get to spend an afternoon with other ladies.
I recently threw a gift card shower for my friend who just had her third child. This is another idea.
Best wishes,
Johnetta

If she is located at all close to Holland or Zeeland, at the City on the Hill, which is the old Zeeland Hospital, they would be able to go to His Harvest Stand and get assistance. On the last Saturday of the month, there is a food pantry with no restrictions on income, located at Third Christian Reformed Church in Zeeland located on the corner of Central and State Sts. They have all kinds of stuff that they could benefit from. Hope this helps!! I can feel her anxiety over this situation!! My DH was laid off for the whole winter and had to scramble to make ends meet!!
