I'd ask the pediatrician for a referral to a pediatric Gastroenterologist if you believe there's a chronic issue.

It's completely possible that it is a virus that she keeps getting reinfected with, but I believe that's highly unlikely.

Bilous vomit is not too uncommon. If there's nothing in the stomach, all that will be vomited will be bile.
If it were my child, I'd personally be pressing for more answers to find out what's going on.

Oh my. Go to a different doctor...in fact, scratch that. Keep doing the emergency room until you get answers. My girlfriend has a lot of experience with this sort of thing. She says that more tests are run in the ER than through a doctors office. You don't have to wait as long to find out.

Go back to the doctor and demand they find out what is wrong. Tell them if they don't know that you want to be refered to another doctor. They only see her when you bring her in. You are with her 24 hours a day and you know what is going on. Start keeping a log - date/time, what she eats, when she gets sick - everything. It might help them figure this out.

I saw one of those medical mysteries shows once, and the woman kept vomiting, etc. and no one could figure it out for months or years. She got really sick, but finally she found a knowledgeable doctor. It turned out to be a problem with a little known body part called the "sphincter of odi". The thing was too tight and not allowing bile or whatever it was through.

Don't know how early this can start, but if your daughter keeps vomiting, maybe you could suggest that.

Children are not a primary target group for it, but a blocked gall bladder caused this in me as an adult.

Time to go in with a timeline.

The thing is that taken individually they're all fine (mysterious fever, then vomitting... okay stomach bug... one week of being fine vomitting.. okay stomach bug part two). Add in a 3rd week of vomitting once every day and you've got yourself a mystery.

So it's time to go in with the timeline you just gave us.

Because without a lab & then without equipment if the labwork comes back normal... I've got a list of 50 things it could be. From infections to migraines to appendixes to allergies to to to). She needs to be examined.

We went through this a couple of months ago with our little one. Come to find out, he needed probiotics back in his system. Our doc suggested that we give him Lactinex, ½ packet/dose once a day for two weeks. The pharmacist told us to keep it in the fridge and only sprinkle it on cold food. (We also put him on Soy formula for about a week. After that week, he stopped throwing up and we moved him back to regular formula. But, we still gave him the Lactinex for another week.) This cleared up the vomiting once and for all; it was the only thing that worked. Please try it. The Lactinex is a little pricey, but well worth it. Just make sure you get the one that's already crushed, not the pills.

Go directly to Children's Hospital...they are wonderful! They specialize in children's illnesses and will get to the bottom of it. There is something wrong...this is not normal!

You NEED a 2nd opinion...
and tell that Doc, EVERYTHING you told us here.
You need to give the Doc all the details that you told us.
If my kid were doing that, and "bile" were coming out... I would rush her to the ER pronto.

It can be many many things... you must not speculate. You need a PROPER diagnosis and testing.

Make an appointment.. or take her to the ER. Tell them everything.
ER Doctors.... have a different perspective/approach to diagnosis...

could it be acid reflux?

I'm wondering is she still able to go the bathroom (#2)? Is something blocked? I would ask for an ultra sound or something. Maybe even a 2nd opinion. It sounds pretty serious. Please let us know. Hugs.

look up a question by 'chell' and see son's symptoms. very very similar. it turned out he had a congenital malrotation of the small bowel. not to scare you, but his symptoms are similar, and the dr (local pediatric gastro, to boot) didn't come up with it.. just perscribed prilosec/other heartburn meds.. it wasn't till he went to ScotRite/ Childrens Hosp of Atlanta that they diagnosed him correctly and corrected the problem.

in this instance, apparently he had increasing symptoms that really came to a head after a year of almost daily vomiting. it was getting to a point that it could have been life threatening.

Has she possibly swallowed something?Is she having diffuculty breathing or has her color changed to pale.It could be post nasal drainage from allergies,I would get her in and see what is going on I agree that the fever lead into a virus possibly stomach bug it can take a while for a virus to leave the body causing all sorts of weird symptoms fatigue loss of appetite aches etc.But for you to set your mind at ease call her ped. an examine and your documentation of her health is important for them to know..Does she complian about anything she is 3 she will be able to say her head or throat hurts at least mine does ask her or let her tell you...

I know someone whose daughter has been hospitalized alot in the last 6 months for chronic vomiting. They still haven't found why-she's been to the children's hospital and several other well known facilities and still no answers.
However, get her seen, give the whole picture....all the symptoms, vomiting descriptions, attitude, food intake and liquid intake, etc. Tell them to find the problem. OR refer you to the children's hospital. Yes, it could be something simple but it could be more. Don't worry about what until you know....you don't need that stress.
