Needing Pediatrician in Fort Worth

Hello. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good pediatrician in Ft. Worth associated with Cooks, takes Medicaid, and works with special needs kids? I know, I'm asking for a lot here! We just recently got the boys on Medicaid and our current doc (whome I LOVE and has worked so well with my oldest with Autism) does not accept Medicaid anymore. So I am looking for someone new. I want to do the Cooks Children Health Plan because he receives some therapy through Cooks right now. But since I haven't had to do this in awhile, I am unaware of which doctors would be worth checking into. I am hoping some of you out there have some good suggestions on where I can start looking! I appreciate any help with this!!

R.

What can I do next?

Thanks for all the suggestions. Looks like I am back to square one. None of the FW. Pediatric locations are accepting new Medicaid patients. This is so tough finding someone who will take it and can deal with special needs. I hate this! But thanks again everyone!

Almost all of the Moms that I know take their children to a group called Fort Worth Pediatrics. They have several offices throughout Fort Worth. I go to the SW office in Cityview near Bryant Irvin and see Dr. Ben Worseley. He is awesome. However, I have heard that Julie Morrow and Dr. Halpenny are just as wonderful.

Hi R.,

I am not sure what part of town you are looking in for your ped, but I will tell you who to avoid. DO NOT go to Dr. Ray Poquiz! He failed to notice a significant medical disorder in my newborn. I can give you details if you wish. I have since come across other moms who have had various issues with Dr. Poquiz. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD TO DR. RAY POQUIZ.

I am not usually one to bad mouth anyone publicly. I simply want to warn anyone who does not know.

I can't answer your questions about a doc accepting Medicaid questions, but I can give you a recommendation. My kids' pediatrition is Julee Morrow, with Ft. Worth Pediatrics, across the street from Harris Southwest. She's relaxed, very knowledgable and thorough, talks to the child but not 'down' to parent or child. She's my 3rd doc for my kids and so glad I kept trying!

My kids also go to Fort Worth Pediatrics. We often use them after hours and/or on weekends so we have seen many of the doctors in the practice. We have never had a problem with any of them. I think they are associated with Cook Children's b/c my daughter had to get tubes and had the procedure done there downtown.

I have heard wonderful things abotu Dr. Champion.
