Need Vacation Ideas with a Teen

Have you considered Family Camp? We have gone to family camp at Northland Camp in Dunbar, Wisconsin each year since 1994 (missed one year). It has been a wonderful experience for us. There are "classes" and activities for each age group in the mornings, back together for lunch, free time all afternoon with plenty to do, then supper and an evening service (divided by age groups). After the evening services there are always more activities. You can be as active or as relaxed as you choose. It's something I truly look forward to every year.

when i was 15 we went west to the plains. i cant tell you how much i loved to see all the attractions and the amount of stuff to do between here and wyoming. for us mount rushmore was the destination and with all the detours to see tourist traps (we do love them) i think we took a week and a half to drive there and back. good luck, have fun in whatever you decide on =]

Not sure what a DD or a DS is......but I'm sure they would like Kiawah Island in S.Carolina - only 20 miles from Charleston. Condo on the beach, tennis, golf, biking trails, pools, etc.

Hi, Alot depends on what they like to do. If they are at all interested in nature, take them up to the UPper Pennisula (past the Bridge). There are some beautiful areas up there. Our favorite our the porcupine mountains where you can hike for a week and still not see everything. Good luck!

Have you considered the Smokey Mountain area? It has so many things that are of interest to your age group. Their in the national park of course offers all kind of things to do. Horse back riding in the area. There is white water rafting in Cherokee North Carolina. There is the opportunity to go kayaking. You can go for a ride up the mountain in a ski lift. You have the opportunity to go for a brief helicopter ride. Lots of restaurants that kids are willing to eat in. At night Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg have activities that your kids would like, miniature golf, motion simulator movies, etc.

DO NOT GO IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER...unless you like extreme heat and humidity....but it cools off at night.

I researched everything on line and paced things between the days. Something nature wise in the day and one thing at night, or one big thing in the day and then dinner and an early night.

WE HAD A BLAST....and the white water rafting was one of the things we enjoyed the most and still talk about.

have you given any thought to a family cruise. Relaxing for the adults and fun for the children.

Are you looking for something in-state or further away. In-state there's always camping...anywhere. I loved camping with my family as a kid and I love it now with my kids. The Upper Peninsula has lots of things to see, if you like nature-type stuff. Maybe Wisconsin Dells, I've heard that the caverns in TN (?) are really cool, but I've never been there. What about taking a road trip and seeing where you end up? I've heard that the maritimes (Canada) are very nice too...but haven't been there either. What about an all-inclusive resort somewhere warm? They have tons of age-appropriate activities for your kids to choose from.
