Need to Lose Weight

Hello Moms! I am trying to shed some pounds but I can't seem to stop eating! I know diet and exercise is the best thing to do but I just don't have the motivation right now. I have done it in the past but I don't know what's changed. Anyway, does anyone know any over the counter weightloss medicine that has worked? Just curious to see what is out there. Thanks for your help!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks for the responses. I decided to do small changes and will take the harder route. No shortcuts. Thanks for the advice!!!

OTC weight loss products do not help, in fact it will mess with your metabolism causing you to gain weight later on and will wreck havoc when you go through menopause. Are you eating a protein and fat at each meal? Are you sustaining your blood sugars by eating at least every 2-4hrs? Do you drink products with aspartame (which causes people to eat more). Are you getting at least 7hrs of sleep? Drinking at least half of your body weight in ounces in water? These are just a few questions that you have to answer, make a healthy, positive lifestyle choice for yourself and set a good example for the kids.

I do one on one nutrtional and wellness consults. My program is individualized for your needs as a busy mom, no counting points, no buying prepackaged foods, etc. We go over everything from sleep habits, social wellness, nutritional, physical, stress assessment. It's the complete package just for you.

You have to do what is best for you, but there is no magic weight loss pill. They key to weight loss is maintaining your blood sugars to keep your metabolism up (pills will throw off your blood sugars). There are tricks you can do with nutrition too, but it is overwhelming to research.

Have you tried Herbalife products? They helped me lose weight, and safely and nutritionally good for you, any questions feel free to ask

Hi R.,
Buy the book "Skinny Bitch". You can eat as much as you want as long as it's the right stuff. It was a life changing book for me. Now I look fabulous, I'm not hungry & I'm much healthier.

Jasmine's right on the money.

Sure some pills work. But, when you go off the pill/drug/wacky-quacky program, you will most likely gain the weight back and then some. Even if you do manage to take off the weight, you'll likely do harm to your body and metabolism. Is it really worth it to put your body through all that?

If you want lasting results, you need to research programs that help you adopt healthy nutrition and exercise habits that you will continue for a lifetime. Weight Watchers is a decent program, and there are a lot of other internet-based programs as well (www.sparkpeople.com).

Good luck!

I meant to respond earlier but didn't get the chance. I am sure with a 4 and 2 yr old it can be very hard to feel motivated. You mention you can't seem to stop eating. Are you an emotional eater? I am . If I am bored or if the kids give me a really hard time or frustrated with work, I end up with food in my mouth. Same with when I am feeling really tired. I work full time and come home to 4 kids, plus supper to cook. All the typical mommy things. When I reach for something and it is not a typical meal, I have to stop and ask myself if I am really hungry. If I don't think so, then I grab a glass of water and get away from the food. It helps to buy snacks that you really don't care for. And as mentioned stay away from soda. Sugar actually makes you crave more sweets. As you say, small steps are the way to go. It actually makes it easier. Since it is still nice out, if you go looking for food, grab the kids and get out. Leave your wallet at home so you can't get anything outside.

I liked the book French Women Don't Get Fat. Only because it isn't really a diet book but talks more about lifestyle adjustments that are quite achievable. Basic tips: drink more water, write down what you eat, identify "offenders", increase fruits and veggies, be mindful of portions, don't eat on the run, cut out sodas. she gives great suggestions on how to keep eating chocolate, sweets, desserts, bread, etc. And there are recipes.
