Need to Loose Weight

Please Help! I am 29 years old and had a child 3 1/2 years ago. I had many complex issues during my delivery which has given me tons of weight problems. I just had my blood work done not to long ago to find out i need to watch my carb intake. Wow, that is very hard to do! If i basically don't eat then i'm at my prime weight. If i eat normal i tend to gain more weight up front in the belly area. I have come to realize it is time to start working on my weight. I went to the salon to get my nails done and the gal asked me how far along i was, My response was like wow she justed asked me if i was Prenent. That was the turning point for me. Please help, does anyone have any good ideas besides just working out. All the advice i can get will help. PS. i also have my 10 year reunion coming up in November so september / October is my goal month to be at my desired weight. I only have about 15 pounds to loose. Thank you! S.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

I just wanted to thank everyone for all the wonderful advice! I have used tons of the many responses and have already lost 5 pounds. I'm watching what i eat, the portion sizes along with going to the gym for at least 45 min 4 times a day. I wanted to join ww, but just can't afford it at this time. I've got a few people that i've been talking to and it has been a tremendous help!! Thank you again.

Weight Watchers!!!!! I lost 45 lbs on that program and the only reason I gained any weight back is because I had two kids. I'm getting back on program now. I have 15-20 lbs to lose and I'd like to fit into my old summer clothes without having to buy new ones. The only people I have ever heard from that it didn't work, were people that weren't that motivated. But it sounds like you are, so I would give it a shot. It also helps if you have someone to do it with &/or go to meetings. The meetings are not boring, and don't be embarrased cause all the people are there for the same reason. Feel free to ask any other questions. Good luck!!

Well I have tried weight watchers and LA Weightloss but witout any real sucess. But I actually have a problem with not having any energy. So this past January I have been seeing a diet doctor. He gave me a low carb diet an exercise regime and medication that has been great. I have energy and have lost 30 pounds. I feel great for the first time in 7 years.

I suggest walking, everyday, even if it only 15 minutes! 30 - 40 minutes at a good pace will really start to get your body going. I would also say drink lots of water. When I say lots you should drink about 2 liters of water a day. You may be peeing like a horse but it really helps your body get rid of all the toxins. It also helps you feel less hungry and full faster when you do eat. I just keep a bottle with me all day and refill it when I finish.

I hope this helps and if you can find a workout/walking buddy it will keep you more motivated.

Personally, the only thing that has ever worked for me(and I have tried all the fad diets), is Weight Watchers. Instead of cutting out and only eating certain groups of foods, they emphasize portion control of all foods...so you can have your cake and eat it too! lol. As far as exercise, I put my son in his stroller and we walk...it gets us both out of the house and into the nice weather. Good luck, we have all been there

Hey S., I feel your pain. I used to have insulin resistance and was on metformin before I had my kids. Now that I have had them, i think I need to go back on it. I go to the gym 5 days a week and burn anywhere from 400-600 calories. I follow a south beach diet, watching carbs. I don't even eat anything with carbs-no brown rice, no sweet potatoes, nothing. I have not lost a pound and my daughter is 8 months old now. can you believe that! Trust me when I say that sometimes gaining weight and not being able to lose weight are not your fault. talk to your doc about insulin resistance. I have the same problem you do, the pud out front that looks a prego belly. I can't get rid of it no matter what I do. Now with the kids, I don't have time to go to the doc! but I have to make time. I cry and cry because I just can't shed a pound. I would understand it if I was lazing about all day eating potato chips but I am very dedicated to my health. I hear you, I really do. Good luck with everything!

I have lost 8lbs in the last 6 weeks just by watching my portion sizes, doing 20 crunches 3x a week, 100 jumping jacks 3x a week and walking for about a half hour (or a little more if time allows) on the days I don't exercise. I also stopped eating as much junk food and if I feel the need to eat because I'm bored, then I suck on a piece of hard candy instead. It's all about limiting your calories and making sure the ones you do eat are not all bad! I still eat ice cream (not light either!), chips, or oreos and milk for a bedtime snack. I also don't drink any soda or iced tea. I drink coffee in the am and then the rest of the day it's nothing but water (except for a glass of milk with dinner or snack before bed). Hope this helps! Good luck!

Weight control is not about dieting, it is a life style that has everything to do with your eating habits. I tried everything to lose weight with no success so I finally went to a weight management doctor and here is how I got the results I wanted...do not eat after 8:00 PM (very hard to do at first) because your body will produce natural endorphins which are thought to be connected to appetite modulation. You will actually feel a difference by the 2nd or 3rd day (i.e. not wanting to hit the snooze button and you will have more energy). Also, cut out fried foods and "hard" cheeses like cheddar and american and eat "soft" cheeses like mozzarella, feta, cottage cheese and yogurts.

However...do not deprive yourself of sweets and goodies, just eat them in moderation. I lost 23 pounds in just a few months with this method and I could've kept going but I got pregnant. Good luck and hopefully you will have the success I did!

I feel your pain! I had my third child almost 4 years ago and I'm 29 and very much not happy with myself. I never believed anyone when they said that things all change when your close to 30, but it has all come true. I talked with my doctor and he suggested Weight Watchers. I started two months ago and I've lost 18 lbs!!! My husband goes with me, which is way supportive, and he has lost almost 50!! It is great because it has taught me how to make the right portions and I still can eat my favorite foods, plus I've learned some great recipes that my kids love. They have two plans and the core plan focuses on not a lot of carbs, so it might help you a lot. I know I sound like a commercial for them, but it works. My proof is child #3-she was created last time I was on WW and lost 33 lbs:)

Here's a good belly toner (specially the lower part).

Lie on the floor, legs straight up in the air, lift ur butt off the floor using only ur lower stomach muscles. Do these every other day.

Hi S.,

I know where your coming from, the only difference is I have 80 to lose. Several Drs that I went to about my weight, after i tried WW and about a million other diets and gained, told me I am sensitive to carbs and put me on a low carb diet..the first two weeks are the hardest but after you "detox" it's not so bad. If you want to know more just PM me and I will try to get back to you today, leaving for a camping trip this evening.

Also do drink the water and do the walking. They only thing they will do is help.
