Need to Giveaway a Few Pieces of Furniture

We are moving and need to give away a queen size boxspring, mattress, bedframe and loveseat. They are all in reasonable condition. Are there any organizations that would pick up these items? It would be a hassle to try and move them.

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for the help. We used Craig's List to sell a number of items we would not be able to use in our new house. We are planning a garage sale this weekend for some of the smaller items and will giveaway the remainder through www.austinfreecycle.org. I really appreciate the assistance. I did most of this online so it felt effortless!

Austin Freecycle.com (or however they spell it) is great. Post the items, and someone who needs it will come and get it.

my church may be willing to come pick it up from you. We have been collecting furniture and items for the families who lost everything in the recent fires in Austin. If you would be interested in donating them to the cause please contact me and I will try to find out if I can get it picked up for you. Good luck and have a safe move.

I'm not sure where you are moving, but if it is nearby, I highly recommend going to freecycle.org It began as a website to help prevent items from ending up in the dump, but is also a very altruistic group of people. You can post that you have these items and that you will not deliver them. I love this website and amazed at the things I thought would end up in the trash, but ended up being wanted by others! I also love that the people in need didn't have to pay for the stuff!

The families that lost everything in the fire in St. John's area last week could use things like that. Austin Stone is spearheading the project. I'm sure someone from church could pick it up if needed.

H.,
I'm sure someone by now has already mentioned www.freecycle.org. Simply click on the town/city that you're in to go about joining the freecycle group in your area.
Another place to post your free items is www.craigslist.com. Simply click on Austin to go to that party of craigslist to post.

HTH,
Jen

H.,
Call ###-###-#### (Unity) and ask to speak with Nancy either today, Saturday, or any time after Monday. Tell her Lorraine suggested you call. We support and help people in need and a woman recently moved needing any furniture we could find for her.

In Austin the ARC and the Assistance League of Austin will pick up furniture. Just call them. They will also leave you a tax deduction form.

Hi H.
Give Salvation Army or Goodwill a call . I don't know for sure if either of them pick up donations but its worth a call to check. I would also look through the phone book and call different thrift stores and see if they do pick up. Most of them probably do not, but you never know...
Good luck.
