Hello. My husband's Christian school is putting together an event for teenage girls and I am involved in it. We want to deal with some of the issues girls face (sexuality, pressure, drugs and drinking, etc.) and are hoping to find someone with a powerful testimony about poor choices they made. Does anybody out there know of anything or anyone? We are also open to showing a good movie that deals with these issues with a powerful message. Don't know of any, so please let me know if you do!
Thanks

Hi, I would love to give my testimony. I grew up in the church, but for some reason had to do everything the hard way. Pressure and being part of cool people were my goal. Drinking a lot and partying - and becoming sexually active in what I deemed "relationships". Never saw myself as promiscuous or bad influence, but that is basically what I was. I would love to talk to girls about how making sexual and intimate decisions at a young age can really make life difficult when you do want to have a real relationship. I think God calls these consequences. I am now married with two wonderful babies (twins), but I would not have gotten this neat life if I wouldn't have trusted God.
Please let me know if you would like to talk further about my possibly talking to your school. ____@____.com S. duncan

I have been in 5 foster homes and adopted to a family who was into the accult. I was raped, stabbed and shot at by this family. My adopted mother knew what her husband was doing and allowed this to occure. I was bitter and hated both of my adopted parents. Jesus changed my heart and tought me what a real family and father was. God is now my father. I have been healed inside out. He has allowed me to know that when men fail he was always there waiting to embrace me in the most hurtful moments in my life. I do not have enough time nor space to let you know what he has done and continues to do in my life. I was so lony as a teen and felt unloved God has shown me his love for me and now I can hold my head up high and boldly say I am His and He is mine and my dad/father loves me!

hi my name is R., well I have a very powerful testimony, and I have been feeling led to share it with others. I saw your request. I grew up in a unstable environment, and my mother left me when I was 16, I saught out love in guys and got pregnate @ 18 yrs. old. Went through a very abusive relationship, and left. To support myself I began dancing in a strip club and was there for approx. 6 years. Experimented with drugs and a lot of drinking. Thought that I was a lesbian for several of those years. Got into a lot of legal trouble. And finally when I couldn't take life anymore, I surrendered to the lord. Thats been about almost three years ago and now I'm married to a wonderful man and we have 2 beautiful boys (mine whos 9) and our newest (christian). I would share my story with you and the girls, just let me know. God Bless

I am a member of East Pickens Baptist Church in Pickens, SC. I don't have a teenager, so I'm not directly involved in the youth program, but I know they have either recently done or are planning a girls-only retreat. I'm sure they have plently of resources and possibly some strong testimonies. Please feel free to contact them. The Youth Minister is Jamie Duncan. You can see information about the Student Ministry and get Jamie's contact info at http://68.178.128.67/serving/students.htm. I hope this helps!

I attended Gardner-Webb University my freshman year of college and was involved in a group called F.O.C.U.S. - there's several FOCUS groups on campus that actually travel to area churchs and do different things w/ youth groups. I would suggest calling GWU and seeing if your church could get involved w/ a FOCUS group. There are usually 6-10 students in a FOCUS group and the church members provide housing while the FOCUS group is visiting - hope this helps. www.gardner-webb.edu I'm sorry but I don't know a contact person because I attended 5 years ago! Let me know how it turns out!

I led a group of 35 girls in an all girls Life Group through our church for 2 1/2 years and I also taught Sunday school for nearly 4 years at our church located in the Lake Norman area. I became close to the girls and parents since I was also a church administrator and assistant to four Pastors. We did so much for the youth there and we saw lives changed. It does take a lot of work and commitment.

It's hard to believe that now days "going to church" doesn't just involve learning about the Word and worship but now we have had to move toward sex, drugs, etc. I had a wonderful opportunity to speak to girls from 8th-12th grade in a very intimate Sunday school setting being led by two precious women in our church. I came in with some pretty harsh reality, eye opening information. It was so shocking to the girls that I had several approach me almost angry that no one every told them this stuff before. Of course they had already made bad choices and now feared the worst. I would love to share with you some of the material.

I also had a co-leader who just put on a program at the church last weekend where the girls from the Life Group actually did the entire show except for the opening. They had over 80 in attendance from the community. I moved back to the Asheville area last year so I am no longer involved but did help with resources for the girls program. You can email me personally if you are interested at ____@____.com

Thank you for your work and heart for youth

May God bless you for your faithfulness

Tracy
