I need to have my annual check up and I don't have a doctor here yet. We moved from Wichita in July and I really like the doctor that delived my son. I have looked online at my health insurance website to find one in the area. I think I have narrowed it down to two doctors. DR Martin at the Johnson County OBGYN in Merriam, or DR Carriker at the Women's Care PA in the Shawnee area. If anyone know anything about either one of these DR's that could help me decide. Or an other good DR's that I should consider. I'm a bit lost I would like to find a good Dr because I would like to have another child in the near future but I want to be established with a Dr before I get Prego.

Thanks

What can I do next?

Dr Carriker was my OB when I was pregnant with my 2nd, and I liked her OK. Dr. McGee (?) actually delivered my daughter, and I really liked him and Dr. Piquard over there. If I had to do it all over, I'd pick Dr. Piquard.

I love my OB. His name is Dr. Errick Arroyo and he's with the Kansas City Women's Clinic. They have 2 offices. On in the medical plaza next to Overland Park Regional, the other at St. Luke's South. The practice is a wonderful place. There are other Drs there as well. I have also seen Dr. Rhonda Wright and Sandra Stites. I wouldn't go anywhere else for my care. Dr. Arroyo likes women to really get involved with their health care decisions and listens to your concerns and goes over options with you.

The number there is ###-###-####
they are located at 10600 Quivira Rd.,on 3rd Fl.

Dr Melanie Martin is WONDERFUL! She is my OB and I went to her on ref from a friend- I have since ref'd 3 other friends and we all love her-- she isnt a 'warm fuzzy' kind of person but once you get to know her she has tons of knowledge, 3 kids of her own, her hubby is a stay at home dad but is and OB as well-she wont scare you with lots of info but will answer any and all concerns you have fully. I had some heavy bleeding/pain after my 2nd was born and we had gotten home and she called me twice herself to check in and asked on my last 2 follow up appts- I can't rave about her enough! One of the Ped's in our group is her patient as well, so if another Dr thinks that well of her I think that says a lot! The office is across the highway from Shawnee Mission Hospital on the frontage road- very convenient!

I go to the Womens Clinic of Johnson County. They have an office at Menorah Medical Center and over by Shawnee Mission Medical Center. It is all women doctors and nurses.

Dr. Janetta Proverbs, Dr. Carrie Grounds, Dr. Brenda Lofton.

They are all wonderful doctors.

Hi S., I actually go to Johnson County OBGYN, I dont see Dr. Martin, I see Dr. Batty. I have been going there for 5 years and love them and the staff. When I was pregnant with my son this past year i had complications and had to go to the hospital a couple times. At one time I did see Dr. Martin. I was very pleased. I highly recommend JO CO OBGYN.

You might go back into the response files to look at the answers I got to the same question, about a month ago. There were several good suggestions.

Ultimately, I went with Dr. Carrie Grounds who is at Women's Care too. I have to say the jury is still out. Not because of Dr. Grounds, who seems knowledgable, personable, and has a nice bedside manner. But the office has so many doctors and patients that it very impersonal. It takes fifteen minutes sometimes to get into the scheduler by phone, and twice I've been told by the scheduler that the thing I needed to schedule for required me to schedule directly through a nurse. Then I had to leave a message for the nurse and wait the rest of the day to get called back. Then, I had a very "iffy" test result, and someone was supposed to call me to schedule a follow-up test, but it never happened. It took a month before I finally called myself. My medical problem could be one of several things, including cancer, and it was very disconcerting to feel I'd fallen through the cracks.

I have acutaly been to Johnson COunty OBGYN once but they put you in this large room with tons of people and make you wait for every. NONE of the doctors there are OBGYNs they are all reg. MDs so take that into account as well. THen after almost an hour of waiting they took me back to there sono room and did the most quiet sonogram i have ever had. Then the docotor wasnt all they nice or informatable.

Now at Women's care they are wonderful. I have had the midwifes there deliver 2 out of 3 of my babies. I am pregnant again and they are wonderful. All the doctors and midwifes there are great. Even if its 3am they make sure you feel like you are the only one they care about at that time. THey are great I really can't say enough about them.

I go to Women's care, and they are great. I have had asome problems during the first trimester, and they were great about seeing me. I see MaGee, not Carriker, but I have heard nothing but great things about her. In addition, I work a lot with all the OBs in this area. If I had a to choose a group, it would definately be Women's Care, as mentioned before, they have a great group of midwives as well. The only recommendation I would say, is amke sure you get the earliest appt available. You know OB offices. Deliveries take priority!

That's funny that Layne said Dr. Magee ended up delivering her baby. He's my OB, but he ended up not delivering either of my boys. Dr. Piquard delivered my 2nd one, and she really is wonderful, too. Dr. Magee did my laparoscopy/laser procedure in 91 for endo, I had babies in 95 and 98, and I had a hyst in 99. He has always listened to my lists of questions and answered as honestly as he could. When I was scheduled for the hyst, I was faxing him pages of questions even. He would write down answers and fax them back for me.

And you just reminded me I need to schedule an appointment, too.
