Need to Find a Good Home for 4 Year Old Male Greyhound

We are looking to find a good home for a greyhound we adopted almost three years ago. Since the baby arrived six months ago, we haven't been able to give him the attention he badly needs. He is a sweet and loveable dog and is neutered and current on all his shots. He gets along with cats and other dogs, as long as they aren't aggressive. He really needs to find a home with someone who can spend time with him. He loves to go for walks and is housebroken. My husband works long hours and since the baby was born, I just can't give him the attention he needs. We also can't afford to hire someone to walk him since I am no longer working. If anyone knows of anyone that might be interested I would really appreciate it. I contacted the agency we adopted him from in hopes that they might be able help us find him a new home, but they were not interested in doing so.

What can I do next?

Hi, J.:

Our family would be interested, if you haven't already found your doggie a home!

We live in Dallas and have a big house and a nice, fenced yard. I've got 3 small children (one 4 yr. old and two 3 yr. olds) and 3 easy-going kitties and one husband who'd like a dog to exercise with. We've been looking for a good "fit", but haven't found a dog that will tolerate cats yet! I am a SAHM, so I am home most of the day.

Please let me know by PM through this site.

Thanks,
L. Bagley

J., I just found a greyhound and in one day found it a new home. In the process, I did learn one of the local greyhound rescue societies is at capacity. Maybe this is why they could not help you? Also, I was in your shoes not too long ago. I felt so bad for my dog while my baby was so young. She got no attention and I hate to say I yelled at her a lot. The poor thing must have really felt unloved. As soon as my little boy got a little older (around 12 months) things got so much easier and I was able to spread myself a little thinner, happily! Maybe give it a little more time?? Of course I do not know your particular circumstances, other than what you outlined, but for me it did get so much easier. Greyhounds are so lovable, as you know, and you really might like to see your little girl grow to love him too!

The best thing to do is to call Greyhound Rescue. I do not know the number but if you call the Humane Society of North Texas ###-###-####) they can give it to you. I hope you find a great home for him. Good luck!
