Need Suggestions on Places to Visit Between Texas and Florida Panhandle

We will be driving to the Pensacola, Fl area, and I would love to visit a few places along the way there. Any ideas of things to see or do. (We will have a 3 year-old with us.)

Thank you.

What can I do next?

We visted the SS Alabamba in Mobile Alabama last year and it was really fun. Here is a link: http://www.ussalabama.com/ You tour the battleship a submarine and they have a hanger of old airplanes. My kids were 5 & 2 1/2 (almost 3) and they enjoyed it also. There is a hotel right by it (I think the Battleship Inn) that was reasonably priced and nice (not fancy). Just go early before it gets hot since some of the areas are not air conditioned.

Should you choose to go through New Orleans, the Aquarium of the Americas is incredible. Your little one will like it, too. The Aquarium is in the downtown/French Quarter area. It's actually fun walking around the French Market, too.

It's not so much "my thing," but if you travel through Vicksburg, MS there are a number of old civil war sites.

I just came back from a girl's trip to the Gulf Shores (Orange Beach)on the Alabama coast and it was beautiful, now I want to take my whole family. I think it is pretty close to Pensacola and it was very inexpensive.
Have fun!
