Need Suggestions for Birthday Party for Twin 4 Year Old Girls
My husband and I are racking our brains to come up with some fun activities for our twin girls' 4th birthday party. We've checked out the bouncy houses but they're just too big and too expensive. Anyone have any ideas for us?

How about Chuck E. Cheese? If you go early when it opens, it's generally empty. The kids can play first and then eat before heading out. Also, if you sign up on the Chuck E. Cheese website, they give you a coupon for free tokens and then each child gets tokens on their birthdays too. My 4 year old still talks about her Chuck E. Cheese birthday from the previous year.

If you want to do the party yourself, you could do a Princess Party and have different stations to turn the girls into princesses. A scepter making station (dowles and cut out a star to put on the end and tie ribbons on it), a crown making station, a royal feast or snack, practicing curtsiying, put on music and let them dance. You could tell them to all come dressed up and have some extras for those that don't. Have an accessorizing station with necklaces and rings (or let them make their own necklaces and bracelets).
You could also pick another theme and do the same kind of thing. Animals (they could do something different for each animal at a different station). Books (each station could be a different favorite story theme, and tell the guests to come as a story character).
Good luck!

I am in the Seattle area and I have a great kids party business. Noah's Ark Animal Workshops are a great activity for kids. I bring the activity to you, so there is no need to worry about going to the mall or anything like that. I make the birthday child feel very special and the kids all have fun. The activity takes about 60-90 minutes and includes the hands on stuffing activity, coloring and games. There are even theme parties to choose from too. There are several different packages to choose from to keep within your budget. Since each kid goes home with a new friend, there is no need for party favors. This is a party that others will talk about for years to come.

Since you are in the Oregon area, I can do one of 2 things. We could do what I call a party in a box, where I ship you everything you need to do the party and I give you a discount off the price. Or I could try to locate a Crew Member in your area. Just let me know.

I had an awesome party for my twins when they were 4. We used the gym at their preschool which was helpful but the theme was camping. I set up a couple tents in the gym to play in.
We had an I Spy "treasure hunt' of sorts. I simply hid a bunch of items around the gym (not too hidden) and then made a colorful 'treasure map'. It was just pictures of the items on a sheet of paper, we passed one out to each kid and they had to run around and circle the item when they spied it. They really loved that.
We had the whole class of 16 kids so another game we played was who could put on the camping gear fastest. We had 4 lines of 4 kids, one would run down, put on an item (big hiking boots, hat, backpack etc), then run back and the next kids had to put it on, run down and add an item. Kind of like a relay. It was very comical. You could do a camping theme pin the tail on the donkey.
The biggest problem about the whole party was I had everything planned for 16 kids and alot of people brought siblings or friends and made it too big.
For gifts we did a book exchange. Every kid brings a used or new book (wrapped is ideal). You put a book in each chair or on the floor under their butts. Then you play musical chairs but no one gets out. Just do a couple rounds and then say stop. Where ever they stop is the book they get. If they aren't wrapped then kids will gravitate to certain books so it's better if they are concealed.
Although we had a gym, I bet you could pull it off at a park or in a back yard. Good luck! The twin party ideas are tough.

Have you considered a really great park? You can invite parents and kids who will have a great time and have the cake eating/ party specific parts in the covered seating area. You still have reserve the date and time with the parks department, but the fees are very small and could be a ton of fun for your girls and their guests.

It sort of depends on your girls and what they enjoy... Are they 'girly girls' or tomboys? How many kids do you plan on inviting? Usually, keeping the guest count at a match with the age they are turning - ie: four guests is appropriate. But with twins... does that mean you invite eight? A tea party is good for that age. You can have the guests come in their frilly dress up clothes. Or have a Dress Up Trunk for them to select some froofroo items to wear while at the party. You could let each guest bring their favorite doll or stuffed animal to the tea party. Even from the dollar store, you should be able to get child size tea sets or small teacups. A weak caffiene free tea or a punch would be good. Make finger foods, maybe sandwiches cut with a cookie cutter into cute shapes or meat & cheese wraps that can be sliced into little rolls. Cupcakes may even be a way to go, if you arent solid on having to do cake. You may even feel inspired to do 'manicures' for the guests, painting their nails. Have a selection of colors for them to choose from. Purchase some foam type photo frames, glitter glue and sparkly stuff. Let each guest decorate a frame, then in the Thank You send them a photo you took at the party of the guest and the birthday girls. If you have a Poloroid or a digital camera/printer, you can send them home with their picture. Magnetic back frames are great for popping onto the frig for display. The craft store or dollar store will be good starting points. If you can set this all up outside, your clean up will be easier. If not, put down disposable plastic tableclothes and then you can wad it up and throw it all out. Hope these ideas help - have fun!

I just did our first birthday party with guests for my five year old. We kept things simple: cake, ice cream, pin the tail on the fish (we had a fish themed party), a fishing game (where they throw a fishing line over the couch and someone clips a prize to it, and just some good old fashioned play time.
The kids had a BLAST! If I were you, I'd stay simple. We got all the prizes and the party favors at the dollar store and saved a lot of money. My hubby is good at baking cakes, and so that was free.. The whole party cost us about $40 and the kids were really happy.
Have fun!

Hello J.!
You have already gotten some great advice. We, too, have twin girls who are now going to be 12 soon. We have always tended to try and make their birthdays special because they have to share it. We have done a different theme every year. For their 4th, (Barbie) Princesses was the theme. We did have dress up opportunities as well as decorating sceptres and those conical princess hats (you can buy the white mess forms at a costume supply place and add some fabric in the top and then they can decorate with "jewels" and glitter glue, etc. We just had it in our backyard. Some of our other themes over the years have included: "Telebubbies at the Children's Museum (when they were popular), Zoo Party w/pony rides, "Flower Fairy" (dressup & jumpy house), Sponge Bob at the Aquarium, "Pirates", Pool Party & Pizza and when they have gotten older: Camping Sleepover (big tent in backyard, smores, etc); Club Pengin, Harry Potter, etc. I realize that I am putting a lot out there but it may help you. All our parties tend to have some dressing up involved and our girls have loved them and still remember them years later. Good luck!
PS Whatever you decide, you might be able to bargain for a lower price due to the economic conditions that many companies are facing (i.e. the jumpy house people may come down in price if you ask them).
