My husband, 7 year old daughter and I are leaving next week for a Disney vacation package - 2 days on land, 7 days at sea. The first day on land will be travel so we have 1 day to spend in Orlando at one of their theme parks. We've been to Disneyland before so have heard Disney World is the same. Figured Epcot would be to old for our daughter, MGM Studios as well. She wants to go to the Animal Kingdome Park but one person told me the animals are really far away and hard to see. Has anyone been there and what did you think?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks to everyone who responded and helped me decide to indeed go to the Disney Wild Animal Kingdom Park. My daughter loved it and the animals were not too far away to see. The safari ride was beautiful and she enjoyed other areas of the park as well. Thanks again.

There is one section of Disneyworld that is just like the Disneyland you are familiar with in Southern California. There is a train that goes around the park. I agree that Epcot and MGM would be too old for her. Try the Animal Kingdom and if it's not working, hop on the train and head for familiar territory--the Magic Kingdom! Don't forget to get the autograph book. She's at a great age to spend a good part of the day running around getting autographs from the characters and her picture taken with them. It helps in avoiding the long lines for the rides. One note, the pens they sell with the book aren't that reliable. Bring your own pen.

Hello L., i have been to Animal Kingdom twice, i am a mother of a five year old and have not yet taken him, however that is one of the best parks in Disney World to me. They have displays of birds, rodents, other animals that you can see, they have a safari ride and for the most part the way the ride is constructed is as if you are really driving in a safari some of the animals seem far because they have it set up where those animals i.e. Lions and Tigers can't get to the car, but there are other animals less harmless that will run by and up to the truck depending on the day. The last time i was there which was Sept 07 a mother and baby Rhino ran right by the truck which was amazing because no one even the driver expected it to happen. There is so much for your child to do i really recomend this park especially for children, GREAT SHOWS (highly recommended)go see the shows. Great rides, Really good food, your whole family will love this park.

It's a GREAT park. LOTS to see & do. We had a blast when we just went there last year. There is much more than just the live animals.

You will love Orlando. Are you going on a Disney Cruise? That was fab...Personally, I think AK was great. My son was 5 1/2 when we went and he loved it. I agree that Epcot was a bit much for little ones. What about MGM or Universal? Have fun...

I think your daughter would enjoy EPCOT. I don't think she's too young for it. If you do go to Animal Kingdom, you don't need the whole day for it. Just a half day will do. I think the Magic Kingdom would be a better place. It is very similar to Disneyland's MK, but there are different things there, too. MGM is fun and I don't think she's too old for that, either. I heard the waterparks they have are fun, but they may be only open during the summer months. Hope you have a great trip!

It was 5 years ago that I was there...but I thought the Animal Kingdom was FABULOUS. On the safari tour ride our jeep had to stop because 3 elephants decided to cross the rode in front of us and walk about 100 yards on the rode. the ambiance is SO Disney and so over the top. I loved it.
