Need Recommendations for Umbrella Stroller

I am looking for recommendations for a lightweight, durable, everyday stroller. I don't really want to spend more than $100, but if you recommend a more expensive model, maybe I can find a deal on the internet. I currently use the Graco Metrolite Travel system. It was great for putting the infant car seat in and out. However, I feel that the stroller is too bulky and heavy for everyday use, and I don't really want to take it with us on our vacation next month.

What can I do next?

We got a Mclaren for my first son (~$100) and it's great - love it. I must admit, though, we bought a Jeep double stroller when we had twins next and it's great too (for what we paid). We paid $80 for the double!

I had a beautiful double stroller, a single one handed collapse stroller and a 9.00 cheap-y umbrella stroller.

I ended up taking the later everywhere. And when it got tattered I did not feel badly about tossing and getting a new shiney cheapo one again.

IMO --- no need for $100.00 -- save it for taking the kids for ice cream in the summer. :)

Hi J. - I posted a similar question when my daughter outgrew her infant carrier and got a lot of great advice. You can probably still find the answers if you do a search in the archives.

Anyways, I ended up buying the Chicco C6 Stroller and have loved it! I paid under $50 for it, and was happily surprised at the quality. There are few bells and whistles, but it has a storage area under the seat, and most importantly (to me) it is very lightweight and folds up to be quite small. I use it whenever we are doing errands, when we go to the mall and when we travel. The wheels are not great for longer trips though, so I still go back to my bigger stroller for walks. I think I got mine at Babies R Us, but I believe it is also sold on Amazon.com.

Good luck!

We used to have a Jeep umbrella stroller & especially for the $35 we paid for it, it was built like a brick sh*t house! :-) That thing litterally followed us ALL OVER THE WORLD and was quite abused & held up great!
It was very comfortable to push & looked comfy to sit in & it had these 2 saddle bags for storage and a flip-up sunshade. It also had shocks on the wheels, which was great over cobblestone & bumpy surfaces & stuff.
Great stroller!!!!!!

We just bought a MacLaren Volo this weekend. It was 100 bucks and seems great so far. We're getting ready to travel and wanted something lighter. What we like about it so far is it's obviously lightweight (it's a glorified umbrella stroller), it has a carry strap, a storage basket, and the back of the stroller seat is a mesh material, so we're hoping our son's back won't get sweaty on our hot vacation. All the reviews on Babies R Us seemed great and it was the number one stroller on a list of lightweight strollers that I found on-line. One thing it doesn't do is recline, but our son is a year old and may not need this feature as much as a younger baby. Just thought I'd let you know what we did - hope it helps!

We have the Jeep umbrella stroller and just love it. We are out and about all the time in it, plus we walk our dog multiple times a day. It has been great getting through the airport, as well as stashed in a very packed car. It is now holding up to the use by our second child.
I considered the MacLeran Volo and the adorable Chicco strollers, and now I am just glad I didn't spend the extra money.
My mom, who lives out of town, bought one too because she wanted an easy one for the grandchildren (also because the Jeep has a vented back like the Volo and she lives in the deep South). Now when we visit we connect the two Jeep strollers and it makes a fast easy double stroller without having to lug a big stroller on a trip!
Good luck.

I got one at babies r us for about $20 and it works great. It's just a stroller and doesn't have a ton of storage, but it does the job!

We have the Chicco C6 which I'm not sure if they still make, but we LOVE it!!! The sunshade is not perfect (but for less than $80 we didn't expect miracles), but everything else is great! The basket underneath is big enough for our large diaper bag, and it is the perfect weight for carrying around (plus it has a handle on the side to make carrying even easier). We just went on a cruise and used to through the airport. We were able to load 6 LARGE bags on it without any problems, so we figure it will hold our son for a long time! Hope this helps and good luck!

J., we went with the babytrend umbrella stroller. We at first thought we wanted the jeep one, but our son, who is a bit on the small side as it is, seemed extreamely cramped and we didn't feel it would have much longevity. now this stroller has many more features to it than a standard umbrella stroller, which i absolutely love. it only weighs 12lbs, it reclines, has a full sun shade, a removeable tray for baby with cupholder and two adult cupholders. it folds down pretty compactly and i can easily take it in and out of the car very easily, and i am a short small woman. we use it every day for our walks and take it everywhere with us. i think it was $45 at toys r us. i have said over and over that it is my favorite baby purchase that we made. i hope this helps.
