Depending on the size and budget, Lark Creek Walnut Creek has a nice private room. However, the room has a wall of windows and the door to the main dining room is a glass french door. We had my parents anniversary party there. It was a great room and the food was delicious. Good luck with finding a place.

The Greenery Golf course and Restruant has a banquet room for all affairs, they have plenty of parking and easy access for all ages. The food is yummy.
the cities also have spaces you can rent, Heather Farms Garden Center is available. Not sure how many people you are having.
Black Bear Diner has a private room, as does Scott's, Dragon 2000, and the Sunrise Bistro in Walnut Creek.
Does you church have a hall?
So many options... A.

You might call the Bistro at the Lafayette Park Hotel and see if they can put you out on their patio (they have heaters out there). Depending on the size of the group that might work. We went there the other night for a staff dinner and given that we were under 14, they actually ended up putting us in a nice small private dining room in the Duck Club with the Bistro menu, but we were originally scheduled to be on the patio. (they didn't charge us for the room because it was available anyway).

In Danville, there is a restaurant called Father's Nature, that has a private room. Good food and not expensive either!
