Need Recommendations for Pediatrician, Etc in Lees Summit

Hello Mamas!

Our family just moved to Lee's Summit (just from KCMO, but it's still a whole new city out here!) I guess I need to find a new peditrician (I hate to - we love Dr. Deb Winburn at Shawnee Mission Pediatrics!) But I'm sure I'll need someone closer for those time you have to see a dr quickly. So any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Also, we had to change dentists a year ago, and haven't been happy since, so recommendations for a dentist would be great too. If anyone has any other "family friendly" advice for living in Lees Summit, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks!

L.

Pediatric Associates. They are the greatest and have a walk-in time every day. They also have an office on the plaza that you can go to that is open on Saturdays.

Well, I have yet another vote for LS Physician's Group/Raintree Pediatrics. My absolute favorite thing about this office is that they have nurses whose only job is to answer questions over the phone. My daughter is 5 and has been going here since she was born and I have NEVER had to wait for a call back from a nurse when I call the main office. I always get to talk to someone within 5 minutes of calling (during business hours). Also, if you need to talk to a doctor after hours, it's only $10 to talk to the on-call. These two services have given us immeasurable peace of mind-- no more wondering "should we go to the doctor?" And they have urgent care hours every single day of the week at the main office (I believe they have it 6 days a week at Raintree, but you can use the main office even if you see a Dr. at Raintree), so no more waiting several days for an appointment if your child is sick. All of the doctors are very nice (though we like Dr. Henschel at Raintree the absolute best). We LOVE this office and I recommend them to everyone looking for a Pediatrician.

As for a dentist, we love Dr. Kevin Cummings, at 3rd & Ward Rd. I've been going there for at least 15 years. For my daughter's first dentist visit (age 2?), I took her to Dr. Korsten (pediatric dentist) and they literally held her down while she screamed so they could clean her teeth. Needless to say, we didn't go back. So we tried Dr. Cummings. Her first visit (age 3), she was too afraid to have them cleaned (who can blame her?), so they asked if they could just count her teeth, and she let them. Her second visit (age 3.5), she let them clean. They don't have cartoon characters on the wall, but the staff & Dr. Cummings were 10 times more kid-friendly than the pediatric dentist we first went to.

We used to use Preferred Pediatrics with Dr. McIntyre. He was wonderful (and quite handsome, too!). They are located off of Chipman Road. I don't have the number anymore but it shouldn't be difficult to find. Good luck! I don't have any recommendations for dentists, we used someone in the Warrensburg area.

We used to go to Dr. Winburn and really liked her. I was sad to leave because we also moved to LS and needed someone closer.
Lee's Summit Physican's Group is great. They have a new office Raintree Pediatrics, located at 821 Lemans Drive ###-###-####. Both Doctors there are great, Allison Henschel and Jeffrey Yannette. They have after hours and weekend walk-in. Or, the main office is located at 1425 NW Blue Parkway ###-###-####. We've been very happy with them.
Dr. Korsten is a child dentist located 248 NE Chipman ###-###-####. He is great with kids and my kids always look forward to a visit to the dentist.

Hi L.,
My 2yr son uses Dr Jennifer Sauer from Lee's Summit Physicians Group. I really liked her. She is very nice and doesn't try to hurry out. Always answers my questions in a nice kind manner. If my child is sick someone can see him right away. I would recommend them, especially Dr Sauer.
Hope that helps.

Laure,
I too live in LS!
Years ago I worked for the most marvelous man with an incredible heart, and is extremely kind to children.....Dr Ed Martin. My 2 children were patients of his, and now my grandchildren go to him. He's located in the Fox Hill Medical Building at Roe and 4-35 in Overland Park. No, he's not in LS, but, well worth the drive.
