Need Rec on Car Seat for Toddler (30 Lbs)

I am shopping for a new car seat for my toddler. My 7 month old is ready to move up to a covertible seat from his infant carrier so I need to get a new seat for my 2 year old. He weighs 29.3 pounds and I know that most high back harness boosters that later turn into a seat belt restrained booster are 30-100 pounds. They seem like they range from $40-$150 and there are so many out there. I am just looking for recommendations for/against brands and styles. Thank you

What can I do next?

I just bought a Alpha Apex from Babies R Us. I like it so far and the reviews at Babies R Us were all good. I chose it because you can use it as a five point harness until 65 lbs if need be, then use it as a booster seat w/car seat belts. It was $99 but I had a coupon for $10 off. Good luck.

We love our Cosco Alpha Omega Elite. Big lots just had it on sale for $80.00. Good Luck.

I follow the 4 years, 40 inches and 40 lbs suggested guideline for moving a toddler into a booster seat. With that and considering your son's age/ht/wt, I'd recommend the Britax Marathon or Regent or one of the comparable ones, depending on his height.
