Hi Moms-
I am trying to send my daughter to a one week summer camp, and I am finding very limited information. My daughter is 5 and wants to do something for the summer. However, I cannot afford to send her for the whole summer. I was looking more for a week long type camp. Anyone have any suggestions? I found Hubbard Summer Sports Camps has a week to week type of camp. Has anyone ever sent there kids there? Any experiences you have, good or bad, would really be appreciated!
Thanks!!

What can I do next?

I have friends that always did the hubbard swim camp. They are make sure (even older now) that they same a week or two to do it. These friends do do the long sleep away camp, but they grew up doing the Hubbard.

Your church or temple should have a program as well for the summer.

The public library or parks and recreation has programs..
I know 5 seems young, but it really isn't. What are her interests? there are many specialty camps (dance, gymnastics, swim team, soccer, lacrosse, softball, acting, music even science camps) for a week.

Hi Marget,

We have a 1/2 day drop off summer camp at Imagination Avenue (www.imaginationavenue.us) that runs weekly. It includes playtime in the town, arts and crafts, Spanish, Sign Language, Fun for Fitness, Creative Movement time, storytime, Snack and Lunch all in our indoor air conditioned facility. The camp size is very small since we are still open to the public but the camp staff will have no more than 5 kids (1 to 5 ratio) and only 10 campers total. The cost is $150 for the first week and 10% off for any additional weeks ($135). The camp runs from 9 AM to 12 PM and we have 2 certified teachers at our camp. The ages of the campers are 3 to 6. Give us a call if you have any more questions or if you are interested at ###-###-####.

Good Luck!

I currently have an in-home daycare and I will be running a Summer Adventure Camp this summer out of my home.

Right now I have an almost five year old and a six year old that will be attending. My daughter who is three will also be there. The other children are younger and will be with another teacher during camp hours.

I am located in East Mesa at Power and McKellips. I know you are in Scottsdale, but we are right off of the 202 freeway.

Each week of the summer we will have a different theme. Some examples are: Outer Space, African Safari, Under the Sea, etc.

Summer Adventure Camp Schedule:

MWF: 8-11am $150 per month
MWF: 1-4pm $150 per month
TTH: 8-11am $100 per month
TTH: 1-4pm $100 per month

Each day I will engage the children in a themed craft, story and music activity. We will be in constant motion and have a very structured morning or afternoon. If you would like more information please call me at ###-###-####. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

PS I have experience planning and implementing curriculum for summer camps for the the Boys and Girls Club and Gilbert Public Schools. I am CPR and First Aid certified and have a fingerprint clearance card.

Paradise for Tots on Tatum and Thunderbird is a Christian Preschool and they have great summer camps. Sunland (or Sunrays, I forgot) gymnastics on 32nd Street and Thunderbird is great and it is affiliated with Hubbard (they combine their camps). Hubbard is good but I've heard that alot of the time the kids are outside and it is sooooo hot. Boys and Girls Club have amazing camps and prices but I'm not sure if your daughter is old enough....my youngest is 6 and going into 1st grade next year and I think she barely made it. You can pick up a copy of Arizona Parenting magazine and they have most of the camps around town listed. Good Luck!

Hi M., The YMCA has summer camps. My son has been going for 1 week camps for 3 years and loves it. I am not sure if they have camp for 5 year olds, but you could look into it. You could also check with the Parks and Rec. dept of the city you live in. Good luck, K.
