Need Middle Name Ideas
My husband and I are expecting our 2nd child in Oct. Even though we don't know the sex yet, we are hoping for a boy this time. We have talked about using my husbands name which is Scott. He is not sure if he wants to use his middle name Clifford. Can anyone give us some ideas of a middle name that goes with Scott? Thanx
So What Happened?™
Thank you all for your great ideas. As for using family names... My sister in law had a boy 9 months ago and used Joseph as the middle name so I don't want to be the same and my grandfathers name was Ernest and that name just doesn't flow. My fathers name is Stanley and I just don't like that and my FIL, Grandfather in law and BIL are all Richard so that wouldn't work either. Too many Richards. I really do like Scott Thomas. That sounds really nice with our last name. Something to consider. As for getting my hopes up for a boy, well we are just working on the names. We are going to find out this time and when that time comes and it does end up being a girl then we will work on the names then. We do know that we will use Paige either as a first or middle name. When my daughter was born the hospital screwed up her birth certificate. They put her as Ashley Paige instead of Ashley Nichole. So my husband thinks it's a sign that our next daughter use the name Paige. So we are working on both was just curious what you guys thought for a name with Scott. Thank you all again.

Coming from a family w/ a dad and brother who share the same name...use Scott as a middle name!!!
It is very confusing/annoying now that they are both men-even more so since their voices sound the same sometimes.
How about Clifford Scott?
GL on getting that boy!

Scott Michael, Scott Andrew, Scott Thomas, Scott Joseph...I think it will be best with a 2 syllable name for the middle name.

I have three (2b & 1g); the first names are just names that we liked, but we chose middle names after family members; my first son's middle name is Robert after my brother who was killed in a car accident many years ago; my second son is Walter after my father and father-in-law; my little girl's middle name is the same as mine. Is there anyone else in your family that you might like to honor? Good luck and congrats!

Scott Alexander is nice...we always expected boys, but had girls every time. Our first daghter (had she been a boy) would've been named Jacob Alexander. Our second daughter (...) was to have been named Michah Chase. Congratulations on your baby!

Why not use your husband's name as your child's middle name?
In my girlfriend's family, it's a tradition to use the grandparent's name as the middle name. I think it's a wonderful tradition.
If you don't like those...
Scott Allen
Scott Anthony
Scott Thomas
Scott William
I would just avoid anything with one sylable. (I don't like Scott John, Scott James, etc)

Is there another male relative whose name you'd like to use?
Lots of names can go along with Scott. Scott William... Scott David... Scott Edward... Scott Michael... Try putting any other name with Scott and see if the two are easy to say together out loud. Then try putting them with your last name and see if you like how it all works.

I really like the name Scott (one of my adult nephews is Scott Adam). We were going to use Clifford as a middle name the first time around but had a girl and changed to a different middle name when we did have a boy next time. If I was using Scott, I'd probably choose a middle name that started with a vowel, since it ends with a hard sound, I think a vowel would flow better - for all that it really matters since most people aren't called by their first and middle name except when you announce the birth.
