Need Insurance
My oldest daughter is 9 yrs. old and her real father is a dead beat alcoholic. Well anyways cut to the point, he is not providing insurance for her the way he is suppose to, I have applied for Medi-cal and I make too much money, so I tried to apply for Healthy Families and I don't make enough. My husband has insurance for myself and the rest of my kids however she had insurance at the time of open enrollment and now we can't enroll again until December but she need to go to the doctors now is there anything else I can try.

Hi
There is not suppossed to be a gap between Medi-Cal and Healthy Families. Are you sure about this?
Here in California you could make up to 51000 and some change per year and still qualify. If you are on the lower end of the income graph, you are suppossed to automatically qualify for Medi-Cal.

Family care clinic in Temecula by courthouse. Also there isn't such a thing as not making enough to qualify for Healthy Families.

I am sorry to learn of your situation. You may want to shop around for a Pediatrician, explain your situation as a "cash pay" and why no insurance and see if they'll negotiate lower fees for you. As well, many doctors can get free prescription for you from the mfg of the prescriptions.
If this doesn't work seek help through the local county hospital, ask for a social worker for direction.
I wish you the very best in this situation.

Hi M., you may want to try Health Net (www.healthnet.com), you can get some reasonable health insurance with them, even on a short term basis. Good luck, hope that helps.

California has an insurance offered to kids until they reach the age of 18 or are no longer living with you....www.healthyfamilies.com. We pay $15.00 a month for vision, dental and medical. We have $5.00 co pays...we have blue cross for medical, vsp for vision and dental net for dental. We are on a tight budget and the company that my husband works for doesn't offer benefits. I hope this helps... good luck!

M., depending on where you live. You may be able to take your daughter to a pediatric/family clinic. It may cost about $30.00 or nothing at all for the full physical. There are many clinic's out there that do that. Wish you all the best. Have a good night...M. M.
