Need Info on Local High Schools

I moved to St. Louis the end of June. I was shocked to learn that I have no options as to where my two oldest daughters can go to school! For the magnet schools you have to be registered in December to get your kids in for the following August! We cannot afford private school without both of us getting second full time jobs. Any suggestions? Are there ways around "b/c it is so late in the year, your only choice is Roosevelt H.S." Does anyone have any suggestions?

What can I do next?

i would check into private schools in the area some offere scholorships. there aren't alot of public highschools in the south city area. which is why they have it set up by district. the only reason i didn't go to roosevelt is becuase my parents woudln't allow it. they foudn a way to put me in private school. other than that i would call cleveland ROTC and check out gateway tech as stated by someone else.

R.,

Some of the parochial high schools offer financial aid. You might try St. John the Baptist and DuBourg High School. Some of the county school districts allow you to attend their schools, such as Affton and Maplewood Richmond Heights, but you pay out of district tuition. The tuition may be less than a private or parochial school. Another option, if you are African-American, is the deseg program. Your children may attend a county highschool if you live in the city limits. Contact St. Louis Public schools if this is posibility for you.

hey there you can put in a request for a transer at roosevelt and choose another "better" school around but you'd have 2 provide transportation and stuff u can even look up on the st. louis public school website for more info

Hi, Rhondal My name is D. and I live in South Saint Louis City. I understand your pain I am 22 years old and I work with troubled youth in the St. Louis area and I have been trying to find "better" high schools for them to attend, so that they don't run into the same problems. But for some of the more better city schools you might want to try ROTC whick is really structured or Gateway would be another good choice. Now, if you know anyone who lives in the county I would recommend going to one of those because, the VTS, voluntary transfer student program, is full for the middle and high schools. I went to Webster Groves High and that is a very good district but you got to have an address for that area for kids there age. I hope I was any help. Good luck D.
