My marraige has been a rollercoaster since day 1. I found out from my mother-in-law that my husband was diagnoised with bi-polar disorder when he was a teenager (but he has denied it). I have never been able to get him help, but shows all the signs - can't hold a job, ups and down, not interested in family. The breaking point has been this second affair on a business trip that I just found out about last night.

He came home and said he knows he is mentally ill and he wants to go to a mental health ward or get a top notch psychiatrist that helps ppl with Bi-polar issues. Does anyone have a recommendation - for an in-patient place in Dallas or person that is great with bi-polar ppl??? He is so afraid of taking the meds and feeling 'funny' as he did in the past but he said he's tired of wrecking his life. I said I'm sure there are plenty of other drugs to try to help him.

What can I do next?

Hi, I work for a psych in Denison TX. I would call Parkland Hospital in Dallas and see what their reccomendations are. If he has insurance, he may qualify for another program besides strictly in-patient. There is the BHC in Sherman, if you are looking to drive north. Their phone number is 903-416-300. they may know other places in the Dallas area. All of our inpatient admits go there and we only reffer to Dallas area for peds. Hope this helps! Also, there are a lot of new meds that may be able to help. Granted finding the right combo can be frustrating, just hang in there and feel free to write me with more quesions!

H.,

I am so sorry to hear about everything that you are going through. These two places are exactly what you are looking for. Both can be in/out patient. They are both connected to a hospital and I know for sure that the Seay Center he will have to go through the ER to get admitted.. Unless things have changed. Good luck with everything.

The Holiner Psychiatric Group at Medical City Dallas is a very well respected group and they're on top of all the current research.

Lots of famous people are bi-polar and lots of them have gotten help and talk about it on the internet. The site below is geared towards college kids but it's got great info and referrals.

Hi H.,

My heart goes out to you. I will ask around to see if anyone that I know has a referral for a doctor. Have you thought about hypnotherapy?

I also recommend an incredible book titled Adaptogens, Herbs for Strength, Stamina, and Stress Relief by Winston and Maimes. It is fascinating. From the book "There is a category of herbs called adaptogens that help the human body adapt to stress, support normal metabolic processes, and restore balance. They increase the body's resistance to physical, biological, emotional, and environmental stressors and promote normal physiologic function".

Adaptogens normalize neurotransmitter levels in the brain and can help with many neurological health problems to enhance brain function.

The 10 most potent adaptogens on the earth, with the highest therapeutic and healing properties available, are now delievered in a fast acting oral spray, called Tunguska Mist. Go to www.VitalHealth.TBlast.com to learn more.

I highly recommend trying Tunguska Mist Pure. It will naturally help increase mental clarity and focus, reduce stress, improve the immune system, and restore balance, or homeostasis. They taste great and with the intra-oral spray you get over 90% of the nutrients absorbed immediately, which go to work within seconds.

My husband and I have been using adaptogens for a long time. We are passionate about helping people reduce the damaging effects of stress on the body and restoring balance naturally, without medications. Good luck and God Bless:)

Best regards,
N.
