Need Ideas for Mother/daughter Weekend

My husband is taking our son on a road trip to see some baseball games. Although my daughter isn't into baseball, she's feeling a little sad at all the fun the boys will be having. I told her we were going to do fun things together on our girls weekend. I need some out-of-the-box ideas of different things to do with her. We already hang out together a ton and always shop, do nails, go out to eat, go to pet stores to look at puppies, go to Michaels and other craft shops, bowl, mini golf and Nick Universe at MOA. I'm trying to think of a mini road trip we could do in a day - we have to sleep at home as we have two dogs. Any creative ideas or fun places I may not have heard about would be greatly appreciated!

What can I do next?

Let your dd plan the day! It will be a blast, no matter where you go or what you do. It is fun to have that one on one time.

You could go to Rochester or Stillwater and antique shop or go up to Duluth for the day. Lots to see, do and explore in those cities.

I think sometimes staying home is just as much fun! My 8 yr. old daughter loves to cook with me. Maybe make a large batch of homemade playdough and then the two of you could use cookie cutters and make a bakery. Homemade playdoh is so much easier to work with then the store bought stuff. Or make a special dessert and have a teaparty. My daughter loves it when I take the time to read to her. Have a sleepover in a different room...Make a big tent over the furniture and make a bed for the two of you. Use flashlights to play a game or read. Eat all finger food. That's all I have for now. Ask her what she wants to do...L.

Does you daughter love Laura Ingalls Wilder? Maybe you can visit one of the places she lived at? Or, does your daughter like historical places? Could you see one of the mansions and then do "high tea" at the St. Paul Hotel? Or do you want to see the show and then do tea at the American Girl place at MOA?

Maybe you two could do a class at Archivers or Scrapbooks too, if you like card making or scrapbooking?

Oh, it'd be fun to go see a play! They are performing Ramona Quimby at the Children's Theater right now. Maybe you could do a special outing to get your hair done and dress up for the show. You could go to a matinee and then to a nice restaurant afterwards.

Otherwise, I also thought about a road trip to one of the Laura Ingalls sites if you'd like to get out of town. Here's the website for the Walnut Grove location: http://www.walnutgrove.org/.

Historic Fort Snelling is also cool. And the Science Museum and the Mill City Museum are both fun.

I think it'd be fun to go to the Mill City, Minneapolis or St. Paul farmer's market on Saturday morning, too (the Mill City Farmer's market is right by the Mill City Museum). And, if your daughter like flowers, you could do a trip to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum http://www.arboretum.umn.edu/.

Have a great time!
