Need Help with Powder Drink Mixes That Have Dried Up.

I have several drink mixes that have dried to a rock hard solid. I had read somewhere that you can put something in the mix to absorb the moisture and make it powder again, but I'm not sure where I read it and Google is not helping me at all. I think maybe it's not putting something into the mix but maybe putting the powder mix into a microwave with a cup of water on the side...? I just don't remember. If anyone knows anything I can do to make the drink mixes powder again I sure would appreciate it. I know I can just go out and buy more, but in this economy I want to use what I have.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I have been so out of it lately. My job and my 2 year old have me on my toes at all times. I do apologize for not getting back to this. My life got so crazy that I did the easiest thing for me and that was to throw the dried stuff away and just buy new drink mix. It was much less than the headache. I do want to thank you for all of the responses and will definitely keep them in mind for the future.

I am aware of products called "brown sugar softeners" (little pottery pieces that you soak in water and then place in hardened sugar, dried fruit, etc.). They usually cost a few dollars:

You can also try placing the "sugar" in a plastic bag and add an apple wedge; allow it to remain in the bag for a day or two until the sugar softens. Then use a blender or food processor to better break up the hardened sugar granules.

A slice of bread works for brown sugar so I don't see why it wouldn't work for drink mixes too. Also if you put them in an airtight container instead of the one they are in it will keep them fresh longer. Tupperware sells modular mates to orginize your pantry and they will keep them fresh for a long time ( like a year or more)

I was thinking the slice of bread too, read your responses and saw somw others had my line of thought! All you have to lose is a slice of bread! Leave it a couple of days and see what it does? Best of luck!

I might be unclear here. My first thought is to break away (with a spoon or knife?) the amount of powder mix that you want and let it dissolve in water or whatever liquid you use, making it as warm as you can. (I use hot water to make my powder drinks and just add ice to my glass.) Does the clumping affect the integrity of the drink?

my line of thought is that the clay disc that you put in brown sugar is absorbant and will absorbe the moisture out of the brown sugar.( you dont soak it you just toss them in when you buy them ) i wonder if you couldnt dry them out in the oven. i would practice with a spoon full and play with the times and temp. because you dont actually want to cook the stuff. its so humid down here. thats what it sounded like happened to your powder. that it hasnt dried up but actually got some moisture in it. i dunno for sure. you can call the 1800 number on the container and ask them what to do. Good luck.

Adding a slice of apple will add back the moisture.
