Need Help with PMDD

Hi All, I'm hoping someone out there has gone through the same thing as I am now and can offer me some advice. I'm in my early 30's & have been dealing with what seems to be PMDD for over 3 years now with no relief. I am fine for the first 2.5 weeks of my cycle then all hell breaks loose. I am terribly moody, in a fog, have zero libido and to say I don't want to be around my husband would be an understatement. I can't stand to even look at him, let alone be touched or even hugged and I feel terrible as he certainly doesn't deserve it. I've talked to my OBGYN & my Primary Care Dr. & have requested that I have my hormone levels checked. Each one has told me repeatedly that hormone testing is inconclusive as hormones differ drastically from person to person & hour to hour. I have had blood work done & thankfully everything was normal (thyroid etc.) I have tried anti-depressents & supplements which have offered little to no relief. Most recently I was prescribed Ortho tricyclen which seems to be making me quite sad & giving me non-stop headaches. I just don't know what to do anymore. I have two questions and one is, can anyone recommend a Dr. who specializes in hormonal issues? And two, has anyone else gone through this and if so, how did you treat it? I'm losing hope. Thanks.

What can I do next?

I can totally relate! I dealt with that for several years. I started taking a regime of powdered supplements that totally changed my life! I had terrible mood swings, no sexual interest at all, depression, etc. Within 3 weeks I had more energy and within 4-5 months I was significantly improved. Take a look at www.relivingpartners.com and then e-mail me, don't leave a message on that site as it's not mine it's a friend's, if you have any questions at ____@____.com. I would be happy to help you get relief like I did.

Dear C. H.

As you know:

Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is a severe form of Premenstrual syndrome, afflicting 3% to 8% of women. It is a diagnosis associated with the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle.

The good news is it can be controlled and in most cases eliminated.

It’s unfortunate that Western medicine does not do further research to help people with (PMDD) but there is just not enough people who have it yet for it to be profitable.

The condition is related to the following:

Liver, Pituitary, Ovaries, adrenals and Neurotransmitters

The following program can make a difference. It will take about 3 to 8 weeks to see a change.

1. Ovarian Complex: 2 capsules before breakfast and dinner for 60 days. http://www.ndinutraceuticals.com/product39.html
2. Neuron Complex: 2 capsules after breakfast and dinner for 60 days. http://www.ndinutraceuticals.com/product254.html
3. Medulla Complex: 2 capsules twice a day after meals for 30 days. http://www.ndinutraceuticals.com/product242.html
4. Adrenal 180: 1 capsules twice a day after breakfast and lunch. http://ndinutraceuticals.com/product73.html
5. Bio-Mag: 2 tablets twice a day with meals. http://ndinutraceuticals.com/product128.html
6. Livachol: 2 capsules twice a day after meals for 90 days.

There are many other things you can do to resolve this problem. Most practitioners who know this program start here and see how far it takes the patient before they do anything else.

Good Luck

Kim

Your doctors are right, hormones do fluctuate throughout the day and obviously throughout the month. So, a blood test would only give you a mere "snapshot" of what is actually occurring in your body. Saliva testing on the other hand will give you true look at what your hormones are doing throughout the month-very accurately. It may also be a long standing vitamin/mineral imbalance that can also be recognized with a hair analysis. These two tests can determine a specific course of whole food supplementation to restore your body's natural ability to produce the proper balance of hormones-not just mask the symptoms. Remember, with any endocrine organ, when you give the body hormones from the outside-in, your endocrine organs essentially shut down because they've determined that there is enough of the hormone circulating in your bloodstream and they do not need to produce any on their own. You will actually make the problem worse in the long run-especially when you go cold turkey of the medication. With whole food supplementation you actually give these organs what they need to start functioning on their own.
Birth control pills and other hormone treatments don't allow the body to naturally start functioning properly. The system that controls your entire body is the nervous system and must be evaluated appropriately by a chiropractor. Chiropractors look at the nervous system differently as they recognize the subtle cues that can lead to organ dysfunction. By detecting and correcting these interferences proper function can be restored.
You obviously are no where near my office (or state), but I would like to give a few websites to find a doctor in your area that will help not only with the supplementation, but also the work on your nervous system as well:
www.upcspine.com
http://www.arltma.com/
http://www.diagnostechs.com/
This should help you in your search. I would be happy to make some calls for you as well or answer any questions you may have. God Bless.

I don't know if what I had was PMS or PMDD but a doctor in Overland Park gave me progesterone troches which I got at one pharmacy that made them, and also he put me on a specific diuretic. It did seem to help for awhile. The best thing I found to cure it was menopause so don't look on that negatively. It was a blessing for me. Of course you don't want to wait so long as that so I'm sure there are new ways to treat it now. Hope you find something.

There is help out there for you. Dr. Margeret Christensen with Christensen Center for Whole Life Health is wonderful. She had a very successful OB/GYN practice for years and then realized that she was just treating diseases not creating health after some health issues of her own she opened this practice. She is located in Dallas, but I am sure she can recommend someone in your area to you if she can't help you. Her phone number is ###-###-#### and her website is http://christensencenter.com/.

Of course it is important to create basic health. You have to replete the vitamins and minerals that you have depleted. You stated that you have used supplements, but not all supplements are created equal. Make sure the company does clinical studies to show absorption and efficacy. Also sometimes you will need even more of a particular vitamin or mineral. It is not always a quick fix.

I know you said you'd tried anti-depressants, but was Zoloft on that list? I've been taking Zoloft for my PMDD and it has helped enormously! That's the only help I can offer except to say that I feel your pain. You're not alone.

Try Krill oil. Google it with PPMD and PMS and see the testimonials that come up. You could also check to see if you have food allergies (like gluten or dairy) that are making the symptoms worse. In the blood work did they check for any vitamin deficiencies? That could be something else that needs to be checked and addressed. Best wishes~

Have you talked to your doctor about getting the Mirena IUD? Best thing I ever did!
Also, I would call around to see if you could be seen by a Endocronologist about your hormones and thryriod. I was told over and over it wasn't that and then I saw a specialist and bingo! It was my thyroid. I was diagnosed with Grave's Disease. It was one of the best thinks that ever happened to me, I wasn't crazy!

I definitely encourage you to see another doctor, I can't recommend one as I am in another state, but you need to do some checking around.

What supplements did you try? There is one that works great - liquid, patented. There was also a great clinical trial done in Plano TX with a supplement. Let me know if you want more info. Don't lose hope!
