My 2 1/2 year old used to go to a babysitter and another child that went there was a nail biter, ever since that time she bites her nails so low that her fingers bleed. what can I do to break this habit.

What can I do next?

I believe they have a medicine to put on the fingers so that when you bite it tastes awful. Good Luck.

UGH---I wish I knew....I have been a nail biter for 27 years! Good luck, and do your best to stop it before it becomes a real habit that she can't grow out of.

Hi, Go to the store and buy about 4 diffrent very bright bottles of nail polish. Make a big deal about taking her to the nail salon to get her toes (say toes first) and fingernails painted very pretty with some pretty designs. Then take her to a salon to let her look at all things going on there. Tell her next Friday (or whatever day) you and she are going to have a girls day of Beauty. Re-direct that nail biting to something wonderful. All week long tell her how excited you are, etc about going to get your toes and nails painted. In order for our children's behaviors to change, we Mothers have to change. I really hope this works...Let Me Know...

to the parents that suggested the nail biter stuff lets see you you put hot sauce & your fingers cause thats the base ingredient in Nail biters. Nail polish on the nails can help or just trim the nails to where they are hard to bite.

try buying nail bitter stopper it contain ome spices and other things so the child wont bit their nails.

Try "Mavala Stop" at folica.com
I used it successfully for my older daughter. It's a clear nail polish with a very bad taste.
