Need Help with My New Wood (Bamboo) Flooring

Hi, I just had a new wood floor put in. It is bamboo. I'm not sure how to clean it. Water alone does not seem to do the best job.
Also, how do you keep the water from leaving marks on the surface. Thanks for any suggestions or advice.

What can I do next?

I have the light colored bamboo flooring thru out my home. I use vinegar and water in a spray bottle and a swiffer. It works great. The best way I have found and my knees can only handle it once in a while is the good ole on the knees with a spray bottle in one hand and a towel to clean and a dry one to dry up the floor for a PERFECT no streak shine!

I found a dust mop that you can use wet or dry. I go with the grain of the wood and no marks show. You can finde it online for about $50.00 sounds like alot hu! I was thinking about ordering one and then I went to GoodWill and they had one!!! for $3.00 I grabbed it. I wish I knew the name if you want I can send you a picture. It has a rag that velcroes so you can remove it to wash it. It saves me sooo much time and grabs everything off the floor. I can go to the Goodwill by my house if you want. Just let me know.

Hi L.!
I had wood flooring in my last home and found a product that I loved. It's called Bona hardwood floor cleaner. I used to have to go to Baker Bros flooring to purchase it but I think it's available in other stores now. Their website is www.bonakemi.com and you can find a store in your area that carries it or you can order it online. I found that the trick wasn't in just using the cleaner but also using a mop that is especially made for hardwood floors. It will dust and clean at the same time and won't leave streaks when used with the cleaner. Hope this helps!

Try microfiber wrung out really well. You can also add a little vinegar with the water.

The installer of my wood floor couldn't officially suggest (but he did) just using glass cleaner. I get the monster bottle from Costco & I use a micro-fiber mop (dust mop w/ exchangeable pads).

I don't have wood flooring but here's a website that explains how to clean:
http://www.ehow.com/how_###-###-####_clean-bamboo-floors....
There is also a green way to clean them too, if you don't want to use chemicals.

So nice that you are retired and really enjoying life! God is so good.

Take care,

I know of an excellent all-natural and safe for everything cleaner called Clean and Green - it's a concentrate that can be diluted to several strengths for use in a multitude of applications - from your bamboo floor to your kids toys to the veggies you clean for salad. It's non-toxic to humans and works great to stop ants from getting in the kitchen - but it isn't available at the store. It is made from rainforest botanicals by indigenous people in the Amazon so proceeds support them and their efforts to preserve their rainforest from destruction - plus it is satisfaction (money-back) guaranteed for a full year. Let me know if you are interested in a website link where you can order it.

In my old house we had a wood floor, oh so beautiful & miss it very much!! It wasn't bamboo though. The company the wood planks were from, of course, had their own cleaner but the floor installer simply used Windex!! He said it was the best thing for cleaning with a shine.

I dont know if I'd use Windex all the time though if I had little ones or pets that potentially could be eating off the floor so I'd try the bit of vinegar trick others mention here.

I dont think I would try a steamer mop though because with wood, about all the water it can handle is a DAMP mop, not wet.

Enjoy!!
