Need Help with Dry Scalp
I'm needing help to get rid of my dry flaky scalp. Can it be the result of having a baby, almost seven months ago, and breast feeding? I've used "Head and Shoulders" dry scalp, wash my hair every other day, and used conditioner, and letting it sit for 5mins. My scalp is still dry and flaky. Overall my hair is healthy. I do not use products on my hair,it's not colored or highlighted--pretty much it is "all natural."
Thanks for all your help,
BB

I have tried everything, vinegar, selsun blue, head and shoulders, tea tree shampoo, t-gel. The best thing I've found it the NEW T-Gel for daily use. It really works.

Neutragena T-Gel is good, but it sure is expensive.
Wash your hair in Dawn Dish Soap (start with a couple of drops and add some until you get the lather you want -- remember it is more concentrated than shampoo). Rub it into the scalp as you wash. It should do the trick within a week.

I have had much success with Neutragena T-Gel and also the Head and Shoulders products. Be sure to use a conditioner formulated for a dry flakey scalp, such as Head and Shoulders. I read that a regular conditioner will wash out the medication you just put on through the medicated shampoo.

Your dry scalp is probably the result of your having a baby. Remember your whole system went through major changes to have the baby and now it is tyring to go back to a normal state. The new normal state make include the dry scalp. Have you tried not washing your hair daily? Wash it every other day or so. I idea of using apple cider vinegar is good. Take or continue your vitamins, drink lots of water and eat your veggies. The other S.

B B,
Try using Tea Tree Oil shampoo. It seems to work for me and it tingles when you use it,

Use tea tree oil. Drop some on your scalp and rub it in. If you know you are going to be home most of the day, rub it in and put your hair up in a pony tail. The longer it is on, the better it helps. But if you do happen to have to leave, still put some on your scalp about 30 min. before your shower and shampoo as usual. Most of the tea tree oil will remain.
You can get it at most health food stores, or vitamin shops.
Best of luck!

jojoba and coconut oil from Whole Foods. It works just as good as olive oil but without the smell. You can substitute coconut for avocado oil or mix all 3.
In a bowl mix jojobo oil, coconut oil,and a few drops of lavender oil(for smell and relaxation). Put it in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds. Make sure it is not scalding hot, just a nice warm to hot. Then take sections of your hair and rub it in as well as rub it into your scalp. Wrap your hair up in a hot towel(just throw it in dryer for a couple minutes to warm it up) and leave on for 15-20 minutes. If you want to stimulate hair growth, add a tiny drop of peppermint extract to the mix. It will make your head tingle.
Then get in the shower and rinse out with a gentle everyday MILD shampoo. Be sure to rinse out in lukewarm to cool water. Not hot! I like this shampoo A LOT:

Use just a tiny bit of your favorite conditioner and rinse out.
Do this once a week!
For quick scalp treatment, rub just a tiny bit of the jojoba or coconut oil into the scalp after a shower and before drying.
You can also do this when its dry but be careful not to get too much in the hair or it will be very oily and flat and look like it needs a wash!
A good idea is to rub some into the scalp the night before washing your hair in the morning. Leave it in overnight to penetrate.
Also, take a flaxseed oil omega 3 supplement( if you're not breastfeeding).
You'll see amazing results!

Just to add to the wonderful advice already given...Are you taking your omega-3 oils? are you allergic to anything? Are you avoiding hair products with alcohol in it? Good luck w/ all the suggestions. ~C.~
