Need Help Securing Crib from Pesky Two-year Old

The original plan was to combine my two daughters (2.5 years and 13 mo) into one room with my younger daughter retaining her crib (eventually get bunk beds). Sadly, my older daughter (we think) has taken to hitting the younger one between the slats in the crib. We may not combine them for this very reason, but I wondered if anything is out there to attach to the outside of the crib to close off the one side--preventing mean ole sister from hitting. Thanks for any recommendations for products or home remedies or suggestions. All are welcome and appreciated!

Maybe these might help. They are a Cozy Crib Tent II and a Breathable Bumper.

Hope this helps!

my response was a crib pad but the other responses sound much better...i'd defintately try them, the tent sounds really nice and the young one would love the independence as well. best of luck to you.

There is a catalog I get called One Step Ahead (that is also their web address) & it has a product called a cozy tent. It's meant to keep kiddos from climbing out of the crib, but the mesh net comes all the way down the sides so that thier hands don't get stuck in between the rails. It should keep big sis out too, though! If you go to their web site it should be under nursery, crib accessories-I think.

I just suggested this 'play pen' to another mama for keeping the kiddos away from the Christmas tree. You can add stopping Big Sis/Bully to the list of uses for this thing. LOL!! It is actually for dogs, but I use it for all sorts of dog and baby solutions. You should be able to get one 4 feet high, keep it well away from the reach of the baby in the crib, and deter the older one from hitting the baby. Check it out.

It folds flat for easy storage, and I actually got mine at PetSmart. The link is just to point you in the right direction.

Hope that helps! :)

I've seen daycare cribs that have something like plexiglass at one end.
How long have they been in the same room? When I was babysitting and moved 2 kids into the same room for nap time, it took a week or two for everyone to get used to it.
Have you tried coming up with any sort of consequences for the 2 yr old's behavior?
