Need Help Losing Weight

I need to lose weight, about 130 pounds. I have been going to the gym since Jan, and am making sure to work out, doing both cardio and weight training, but only noticed about a 10 pound difference doing that, then in August I started taking Phentermine an appetite suppressant, and started on the Carbohydrate Addicts diet and was able to lose 28 pounds in a month, but since I have plateaued with only a .5 to 1 pound difference on a daily basis going up and down, but staying basically in the same place. I am frustrated and not sure what to do. I have spent 1000's of dollars in weight loss medication and on weight loss books only to not have it work for me. I have done some reading and believe that I have insulin resistance and a mild case of hyperthyroidism ( my doctor gave me a blood test and said it was fine, however I have read that those blood tests are not the best way to know) and I have all the symptoms. I need some help. Has anyone else struggled with their weight or with insuline resistance and hyperthyroidism and could offer some help. I need to do something and I am committed to making the changes needed. Currently I only drink water, do cardio at least 4 days a week for 30-45 minutes and one day I do a full hour, and weight train 4 days per week. Please help.

What can I do next?

Hi! Exercise & eating right is the best things you can do. I don't know if anyone has told you, but when working out you can tone up & gain muscle. Because of this, you may visibly look as though you have lost, but the muscle you gain weighs 1bs too, so it is harder to notice on the scale. Drink lots of water. Water makes you feel fuller, so you don't want to eat as much. (that works great for me) Keep up the good work. Don't stop exercising because of the scale. When you lose fast you almost always gain back, so go as slow as you need to. Remember, good things come to those who wait. GOOD LUCK!

Hey S.:
I've got 100 lbs to lose and I've been on every diet you can think of, the only one that worked for me was the Fat Smash Diet, which the principles are basically the same that everyone is telling you, eat whole grains, watch your starches and exercise every day. I have good days and bad days but have lost 14 lbs so far. If you want a diet buddy, we can email each other, I know it helps to be responsible to someone else. Stress will put the weight on too. You can email me at ____@____.com Luck!

Hi S.,
I too wanted to lose weight. I wasn't that much overweight but with me even an extra 20 pounds was hard. I was diagnosed pre-diabetic and I had high blood pressure. I have the greatest doctor in the area.....Dr Amy Makemson. I researched doctors before I decided to use her and just love her. She put me on Adepix. It isn't covered by insurance but isn't overly expensive. You can only take it for 3 month incriments but it worked really well. I lost over 30 pounds on it in just that 3 months. Without a lot of working out and such. I have been off of it for quite a while now and have only gained back 5 of what I had lost. You can go off of it for a few months and back and so forth. It really helped me out because I am menopausal....had a hysterectomy around 4 years ago. And it even helped me.

Hi S.,

I too struggle with my weight so I can definitely relate to your situation. Due to child births via c-sect and bad eating habits I managed to gain 90 lbs over the past 6 years. I tried several fad diets and it would work temporarily but I would gain the weight back. During a routine office visit I realized after stepping on the scales that I no longer liked what it was saying. Over about 2 months I started to change my eating habits and eliminated stress as much as possible and lost about 23lbs. In May of this year I was diagnosed with hypertension along with high cholesterol therefore I knew I had to do something. To be honest exercising and weight training caused me to gain weight due to me building muscle. I started doing more chores around the house and cutting grass and walking in my neighborhood. I also eat healthier and now I've lost a total of 35lbs. I need to lose another 55lbs but I'm well on my way. Consistency in better eating, remaining stress free, and just enjoying life has caused me to continue to lose weight and keep it off. Hope this helps..

S.,
I'm not sure about the hyperthyroidism. However, have you consulted with a personal trainer at your gym? I'm not a personal trainer myself, but you may not be keeping your heart rate up long enough with only 30-45 minutes of cardio. Also, with the weight training, it would depend on how many reps and at what weight you are using. What kind of cardio are you doing?

Dear S.:

Boy, I sure can relate. I only am 15 pounds overweight, but it's hard not to just stay at the same place. I'm taking Going! Going! Gone weight loss supplement from Arbonne International. It does work; however, sometimes I forget to take it. Chromate is one of the ingredients. Plus I supplement with Chocolate Mint weight loss chews, whenever I feel like eating a brownie! (which is most of the time). I am a caffeineaholic. I would also recommend doing something you don't usually do, like running up and down the stairs, instead of doing the same program. Get a nordic Trak, do an aerobics video. Something different from routine. Sometimes I think your body gets used to the routine and will just stay at the same place. You sound like you're doing great. Keep up the good work! If you want to get the Arbonne supplements, go to www.arbonne.com and put in my number, 17301833, Pin #4648, and you'll get 35% to 40% off.

I've tried a lot of diet pills, like Skinny Mini, etc., and this is the best one I've found?! Take care! --Love, N.

I'm a Weight Watcher's person. It really worked for me when nothing else would and I'm NOT a dieter. It takes some effort and is a little tedious at first, but then becomes second nature. The best part about it (for me) was going to the meetings. I thought it was be cheesy, but it wasn't. Of course, you have to find a meeting w/a group you like and a good leader. Anyway, it worked for me. Good luck and keep up the good (hard) work! :)

I am not sure how much this might help but I have been doing Denise Austin Videos at home for the last five months. I don't diet at all. I eat less carbs in general. I definitely drink lots of water but i also drink skim milk and juice. If you need an execise partner or just another person to discuss a better eating schedule you can email me @____@____.com.
