Hi everyone--My oven (double, built-in) blew out the other night--needless to say scaring the daylights out of me--so I was wondering if anyone has gone to Sears.com to order appliances online and everything work out right. I would like to have it installed as well. I just didn't know if this was a good idea or if I should just go to the store. I live about an hr from the store, so I am just trying to save a trip. Anyway--I used to work in the cooking section of Sears and I know things will run smoothly if I go there, but I'd like to just do it online if it's just as easy! So if any of you have experience with this--please let me know! Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for the responses! I decided to check into the appliance store we have in this small town I live in (only about 15,000) people. I ordered one and come to find out--they are going to have to do some wood work to make the new one fit. It all worked out well and I do appreciate your input!!

I bought a refrigerator from sears.com about 2 years ago and had it delivered. I have been very happy with it except for one small problem with the fan in the freezer which cools the refrigerator section. This went out and had to be replaced. I knew exactly what I wanted when I went online so the whole experience was much less painful that going to the store.

I have ordered every appliance I've owned for the past 20 years from Sears. Some of them in the store, some of them on-line. Cannot think of a single circumstance where I've been disappointed with either the appliance or the installation. I highly recommend them to everyone I know.

Didn't buy from Sears, but my Whirlpool stove was just fine.

If you have a home warranty they usually cover things like that.

Hello! We have not bought appliances from Sears online, but we have purchased a fridge, washer and dryer from GE online. Everything went perfectly...We chose what we wanted online, they delivered the products at the exact second that they said they would and they installed everything for us! I would do it again in a heartbeat!!

I am not real found of Sears & their delivery people. They subcintract and it becomes a nightmere if something goes wrong. Since my last two installations were miserable, I have since switched to Best Buy. They install and deliver for free and they price match anybody. Good luck

GO TO CONNS!!! We shoped around everywhere: Sears, Home Depot, Lowes, ect... even some scratch and dent and whole sale outlets. CONNS beat them all and saved us big bucks $$$$ plus delivered all 3 appliances the next day (on a sunday).
A fridge that is at sears for 2,200. was at Conns for 1,699.00 and they took $200 off each appliance.

We ordered our washer & dryer in person at a Sears store and had an unsatisfactory experience. I had heard such positive things about Sears' products, so I wasn't expecting what we went through. We provided the measurements and were shown which items we could order given the small space we were dealing with. When the delivery men arrived, they looked at the space and said there was no way the W&D would fit and they weren't going to even bother unloading them from the truck. We went back to the Sears store and talked with the sales guy who said that was ridiculous and the W&D we selected should fit. We had to act as the middlemen between the store and the delivery people, calling back and forth until I said "enough!" and had the store manager talk to the delivery people directly.

Long story short, the W&D did fit, but the delivery people didn't bring the right hose, even though the sales guy had specified a certain hose. It was going to be another week before we could get the hose, so my husband drove to the store, picked up a hose and installed it himself. It was a big hassle.

Sometimes items online are more expensive. You might want to compare prices.

C.,

Don't wait another day to solve your problem. There is a number for online purchases through which you can route your way to speak to a representative who will advise you. Personally, I have struggled with orders for replacement parts from Sears for two years.

Best of Luck

Hi,
I haven't used Sears.com (although I did have a very good in-store experience recently at the Parmer Lane store). However, I can definitely recommend Costco.com. We purchased a washing machine from them online. I can't remember if delivery was free or a minimal charge. But not only did they deliver and install it (to our very rural location), they also hauled away the old one. Great service.

I ordered my refrigerator online from Sears about 15 months ago and things worked out without a hitch. Just make sure and keep your email receipts as that ended up being the only record of my purchase and I needed it for warranty work. Just make sure and measure carefully to make sure the new one will fit.

I have to say that I will never buy from Sears again. I got a garage door opener and I know nothing about installing it so I had Sears do it so my warranty would be current. When it didn't work and kept "ghosting" going up by itself in the middle of the night and when we were gone, I called Sears. They wouldn't send someone out to fix it without charging me over $100 just to come over. I refused and spent many months trying to get it resolved. After all, I paid for the installation. I finally gave up. Three years later, I had a friend visit who completely rewired the whole thing for me. It works fine.

I hate Sears, the store and online. They don't stand behind their installation guys.

Hi C.,

Buying appliances online can be a little scarey at first, however I believe you will be just fine with Sears.com. And you can even get a rebate if you purchase on Sears.com through your own free online mall that you can get at YourCashBack.info. I purchase almost everything online now. And no problems. Hope this helps.

How do you know you need to replace the ENTIRE OVEN? Perhaps, if it is electric, you just need to replace the coil, which is not a difficult procedure and certainly less expensive that an entire oven. Does your husband have ANY repair skills? If not, perhaps a neighbor man. I'd determine EXACTLY what the problem is FIRST because getting a new one to fit the existing opening can be a problem. I've been there, done that, and some adjusting had to be done that involved a little carpentry. Dig out your manual for the current one and see what the exact specs are. Good luck...I know how frustrating these things can be.

I've bought an appliance from sears.com and everything went fine. As long as you know exactly what you want, I don't see a reason to go to the store. The disadvantage of buying online is that you don't get to physically see the product, so you have to be careful that you know what you want.

I used to work for Sears.com in 04, they are really easy to work with or should be. You will need the hight, width, and depth of your current oven, also if it is gas or electric. The only Reason you could run into problems is if you are outside of the normal delivery area and if you are an hour form a store this may come up. I would suggest that you call them and discussit before you order. They may have to take you through the whole order process to find out that they cannot deliver to you in that case you will need to order from the store which I really don't remember how that works. Also have the check invintory if it is on clearance if the item price ends in 88 cants it is a clearance item. Good Luck but it should go smoothly.
