My daughter is 7 months old and usually sleeps all night. She has recently started waking up atleast every 2 hours screaming, nothing I do works to sooth her. I have tryed bottles, diaper changes, and rocking her. When she wakes up it seems like she is in pain or maybe even scared, could she be having nightmares? What can i do to help her?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well we visited her doctor and checked her ears, No ear infections. She is teething but we are using teething tablets. Her doctor said that she could be having "night terriors".

Really sounds like teething or an ear infection. My advice is to try a little oragel on her gums and see what her response is. If she seems soothed, it's teething. It usually works almost immediately. If she still screams, could be an ear infection, especially if she's had a cold in the past week or 2. You can also try giving her a dose of tylenol or motrin at bedtime to see if that helps her stay asleep better. You don't want to do that every night, but you can do it for several in a row if it's helping.

Have you had her ears checked? Fever? It could be an ear infection, which gets WAY more painful at night, when lying down.....

Have the pediatrician check her ears for an ear infection. My kids never had ANY symptoms other than the waking at night. And I always felt so guilty becaus emy first thought was always that they were fighting sleep and being annoyed about it. It is easy to go in for a quick "ear check."

My son actually did this. I can't tell you what was wrong because I could never figure out what was up. I took him to the doctor, feed him, loved him. Changed him. Nothing. Then maybe a month later it just stopped.

Teething, ear infection, gas. Nightmares dont count since that would soothe the child if you were there. Call the pedia.

I agree with the others. My first thought was either ear infection or teething.

Does she still spit up during the day? More than once or twice a week? Could be acid reflux. My daughter got hit really hard with it about 7 mo (that's when we really got started on solid foods) and would not sleep more than two hours at a time.

Teething or ear infection. My son had 5 ear infections in the first 1 1/2 of his life and didnt have a fever with any of them.

Sounds like an ear infection. I would have that checked even if she doesn't show any other obvious symptoms.

Could she be too cold? With the weather changing you never know...

She could be teething... My daughter did this when she was 6 months old... she does this each time she gets a tooth... She is getting her K9's right now and wakes up screaming until I give her tylonol or those disolvable teething tablets... Its easier now that she is 22 months since she points to her mouth and says "Oww mommy, oww" but its definately something to consider if she hasn't got any teeth yet... AND I have found that some teeth are more painful than others to get in, and sometimes they are getting more than 1, which probably hurts more:) Good luck!

It's probably just another phase. Hopefully it won't last long.

Has she been sick? Sometimes ear infections can cause this type of non-sleep. It hurts to lie down with an earache so if she wants to be held on your shoulder - that's an indicator.
