I'm so sorry, how awful!
Check with all the local churches, and other charitable organizations like Goodwill, Salvation Army and the Red Cross.
Also alert the school where your 6 year old goes and let them know what happened. Our schools have "helping hands" committees that get the word out to the school community when a family has suffered a tragedy or loss of some kind. We have helped two families over the years who have lost their homes in a fire.
I have also heard of an online resource where people advertise stuff they are giving away, I think it's called freecycle.org
Good luck to you, I can only imagine how hard this time must be.

Talk to area churches, the Salvation Army, Goodwill and check on any other charitable organizations in your area. If you Google charitable organizations + your city, you should find the ones you could contact. Good luck! I'm sorry for your situation -that would be truly awful.

Some churches have clothes closets just for this reason. Check around....
Also, get some 2nd hand clothing at Goodwill/Salv army for now.

I hope to God you had insurance--either renters or homeowners, depending.

Could your school organize a clothing drive? Get in touch with the principal, who might turn it over to the PTO.....

All the best.

I'm sorry. This is tough. Our neighbor had a house fire. Her insurance company did a GREAT job in taking care of her. What is your insurance company doing for you?

Check with your local charity organizations - Red Cross, church, Salvation Army - with as much as you need - they may need proof of loss - like a police report - so that you can get what you need at no cost.

Check on Freecycle too. There are a TON of listings for people who are giving away clothes.

Good luck!

I am sooooo sorry for you, house fires are the worst, I lost loved ones in one and I am very glad for you that you lost no one just things. This is one of the things the The Red Cross Foundation helps with - please contact them ASAP this is why we donate, so they can help families who just lost everything. They will get you food, shelter (hotel most likely) and help set you up with something longer term if needed. In addition your homeowners insurance or renters insurance should help too if you have not contacted them please do. A co-worker, whose son wore the same size as my son (so I brought her clothes) said that Red Cross gave her a 250 walmart card instantly to get clothes for her and her son right away and they also got them a hotel for a week (the kind that's like a studio apartment) while the repairs began. She was able to then get a corporate apartment for another 30 days until her house was fixed. It was a great help - her insurance covered the cost of fixing the homes, and her car ins replaced her car this is why we pay these people. I hope you are able to get back on your feet quickly and do not be afraid to ask for help. If you feel "guilty" for asking for this help pay it forward by donating blood. ;)

I agree with the last post check with your church. If you have access to a computer check with your local free cycle group; list your needs and contact information.

Free cycle is an internet group specific to a particular area that believes in recycling their unused items like clothing, toys, household goods.....

You will hopefully be surprised with the response.

Try local churches. Most churches carry benevolent funds to help in situations like this.

Most of us here are too far away to help you.

You need to find help within your own community.

Did the Fire Dept help? They usually provide a lot of helpful resources to families who's homes burn down. They'll refer to you your local charities, churches and organizations that help with this type of disaster relief.

Oh wow, so sorry for the loss. We all want to personally help, but are too far away. I can't add anymore suggestions, all have been posted. But know others are thinking and praying as well. God uses things for His glory.

someone mentioned freecycle. that is a good website. also check craigslist. they also have a free section you could check as well as a kids section. you can get clothes and toys pretty cheap on there.
