Need Gift Idea for Hubby (I know--VERY LATE)

So, I don't know what to get for my hubby...he pretty much has everything he needs and doesn't need but just wanted...

* We have a Wii...neither of us have time to use it
* I wanted to buy him a watch--like a Citizen Echo Drive, but he's planning on buying himself a Movado watch next spring when he gets his bonue.
* I've already given him a digi pic frame--he hasn't even taken it out of the box
* He's not handy, so any power tools would only be used by me or our handyman
* He refuses to wear a hat, scarf, or gloves
* We don't even have time to go out to dinner/dates, so not a great option there
* He doesn't like any Chicago sports teams--he's a Cheesehead (ick)
* He has a nice electric razor already
* Bought him a bathrobe last X-Mas
* We already do find sentimental X-Mas ornaments for each other each year

I'm so out of ideas, and we've only been together 8 years! Any ideas?

Tickets to a show, like Blue man group, or cirque du soliel.
A gift certificate for a massage, rent a porsch or some other expensive car for a weekend.
Sign him up for classes for something he likes. I know that there are "driving schools"
Where they get to race cars and such.

Good Luck! : )

Does your husband drink beer or wine? Why not order the Beer of the Month, or Wine of the Month. If he is not a big drinker they also have many other things to choose from. We ordered my in laws the wine of the month a couple of years back and they loved it. The best part is that you can order from the comfort of your home. They give you a card to print out right from your computer. Good luck!!!

Wow that's tough! No hobbies, no time, no idea!! I think the gift of time would be the answer, can't really wrap it up, but if you're too busy to go on a date, you had better make time with two little ones in the house. Line up a sitter, plan a date, and make it happen for your kids' sake you have to spend time alone together! Some suggestions - a favorite restaurant, dinner & movie, dinner & dancing, or something you enjoy. In nicer weather I'd suggest wrapping a stocked picnic basket, good bottle of wine & tickets to an outdoor concert. But do something together, even if it's just dinner out alone around the corner from the house! I did that when my daughter was young & nursing, mil stayed with the kids, we ate, I went home to nurse, then we went out again. It can & must be done to avoid pitfalls in marriage that happen with little ones at home. :) Sorry, didn't mean to lecture, just been there, done that & warn all moms of babies-to-preschoolers to get out with their spouse because little ones stress a marriage, big-time.

Other suggestions, good scotch, a bottle of his favorite wine or other fine liquors, good cigars, a subscription to a magazine that he enjoys, even cheese-head sports paraphernalia. :)

Have fun!!

Well how about a nice card with coupons that you make for things like a back rub, movie night at home, favorite dinner that you cook, the little things that you think will make him feel special. I know it is hard finding time to be with each other with 2 small children, but it is oh so necessary. Find a babysitter at least once a month and spend time with each other even if it is only going to McDonalds. It doesn't have to be expensive or for hours. Try to have just 1 hour a month that is dedicated to just the two of you. The children will be fine and you guys will be better. I see Marla and I are on the same page.

Does he work in an office or somewhere where he has a bit of his own space, or at least a desk?

I bought some nice hardy colorful plants for my husband, a bag of potting soil, a pretty cereamic pot and made him a unique potted plant by repotting a bunch of different kinds of plants.

At Ten Thousand Villages in Oak Park, they have smooth stones with words carved on them: hope, love, wonder, wisdom, etc. So, i bought 4 of those and placed them on top of the soil.

If he only has a small desk, just make a tiny plant arrangement.

My husband is really hard to buy for, too.
This year, he's getting a new Android phone from Verizon. He had also wanted an Amazon Kindle as he's a pretty avid reader.
He's been wanting to see the new Sherlock Holmes movie, so I'm going to get him some prepaid tickets for him to go.
Last year, I asked a guy I worked with who recommended an old-fashioned hot lather shave. It was about $50 and took about 1.5 hours (kind of like a day at the spa for guys).
Does he already have XM in his car? That's usually an easy one that most guys will ike.
Good luck! I'm right there with you!

K.--not sure if anyone suggested this, but EVERY year "santa" brings scratch off lottery tickets for my husband. It's always exciting to see if we will win "big"! Most often we get $2 or a free ticket, but a couple years ago he won $250! It's not something we normally pick up, but a fun activity to look forward to every christmas morning! :)

I always give my husband two calendars. One for his office, which is a page a day (Dilbert, usually) and one for his desk area at home (Star Trek - he's a Trekkie). I always get him a few shirts and other little odds and ends. Box of candy, Starbucks GC, chocolate covered expresso beans. If I can find a Star Trek ornament, I'll get him that. Is he into anything like Star Trek, Star Wars or James Bond? Cars? You could probably find a Packer's Jersey around here somewhere.

Does your husband have any hobbies? Does he like to read? Is he a gadget guy? I know a lot of people don't like to give gift cards, but sometimes that's the best thing to get.

Why don't you beat him to it on the watch?

Or: Did you load the digital picture frame with pictures? I would set it up in his office or in a family room, have it going so he can appreciate it.

Or: What would give you time to go out, a babysitter? house cleaner? You have to make the time, you won't find it if you wait for it to come.

Good luck!

This might sound cheesy, but I got my hubby an air popcorn popper(he loves popcorn), some of his favorite movies (ones I can't stand), and some of his favorite beer. Then I'll make sure he actually gets some moments of peace so he can enjoy. There's gotta be something just your husband enjoys doing. maybe gift cards to restaurants he can eat out at while at work. Doe she like his car, get it detailed and waxed? If you got nothing at the end of the day, then wrap up in a bow and get a sitter!

I have bought movies or boxed sets of TV shows on DVD for my husband. This year he wanted a universal remote at Best Buy. Does he like to read books or maybe a magazine subscription? A gift card to a store he likes to shop at - Best Buy, Dick's Sporting Goods, etc. Does he wear cologne? It seems that men are hard to buy for, even when you do know them well. Good Luck & Merry Christmas!!!

How about a gift certificate for a night out, completely planned by you. You'll arrange the babysitter, then drinks at a favorite bar, and dinner at a favorite restaurant. Something really specific that he would enjoy and might not get to do very often.

Does he enjoy alcohol? If he has a favorite kind, like whiskey or vodka, you could find a nice bottle and some barware to give him. There might be a cool local distillery that offers something unique.

How about a home made coupon book. You can list things, foot rubs, back rubs, doing one of HIS chores, etc. I did this for my family a few years ago. Everyone love it..and used the coupons too! Our children also made up coupons and give them as gifts for our our immediate family. It sounds to me that giving to each other and not buying for eachother is what you need. Do not forgo being too busy with spending quality time...weekly with your husband or one day you will wake up strangers or worse. The gift of self and time is priceless. Have a Merry Christmas
