Congrats on the new little ones! Infant gifts are really pretty easy, lol. Soft cloth toys and books are great. Pretty much anything that can be easily cleaned or put in the washing machine that's too big for them to swallow is great.
I hope that this helps!

Do not know your financial situation. However if you would invest a $1000 at birth for a roth ira it should be worth at least $.5 Mil. To do this you have to reinvest the dividends. This is based on average 10.2%.
Or you can open a account with you as child's guardian with an on line broker. Suggest you speak to them on the phone and find out minimun and MAKE SURE THEY UNDERSTAND IT IS TO BE A ROTH IRA ACCOUNT.
Here is what is nice about this:
You buy a stock at $50.00 paying 3.0 dividend, it splits twich 2 for 1. Your stock price reduces to $25 then $12.50 The dividend rate on this $1000 becomes 6% then 12%.
Look for well known companies who have been in business for 50 years or more with a history of splitting there stock.
When the child is 10 or 12, show it to him. Then at 15 or 16 show it to him again and the child should learn how to save. Of course you may want to give the child either a small gift or cash.
God Bless

I am a grandmother, too, of a 9 month old. I bought a swing for him and he still loves it! It was by far the best present my daughter got. Less expensive items: newborn outfits, mattress pad, crib sheets, blanket, and changing pad and cover are ideas for you. Good luck!

Fisher Price Rain Forest toys. They make a jumparoo that is GREAT and also a lullaby rain forest thing that attaches to the side of the crib. My son, 3 months old, loves it! It makes sounds like a waterfall & other outdoor noises, plays lullabys, & it lights up & the monkey & lizard swing back & forth with a fish that floats around at the bottom. Wonderful, it costs about $30, I found mine from K-Mart. The Jumparoo I had to order off the internet. Also, something that is great for me & my son is his swing. It's also by FisherPrice. It converts from a newborn swing, to infant chair, to toddler rocking chair. It's my favorite piece of baby gear I own.

They are your grandchildren, ask the parents what they need, right now, diapers are always useful, along with blankets and clothes, they change sizes so fast at this age. I have always thought that infant gifts were easier to give. The little ones like any toys age appropriate that make noise and that they can hold when they get a little older. Enjoy your new grandchildren.

My son was 6 months old at Christmas and my daughter was 2 months old at Christmas. Both years the main thing I asked for was clothes for the kids. Of course if they need bigger sizes for different seasons it might be harder to fine, but that was the main thing I requested! Since my daughter was only 2 months old, there were a few things I didn't get from my registry that I still wanted/needed. So when asked, I also requested those. Ask their parents what they need! The babies won't remember this Christmas, so its a good time to get them things they need!!
