Need Cute Ideas for Sharing the News About Baby's Gender at Christmas
I was trying to come up with a creative way (Yes 3 days before Christmas, I know ahhh) on how to tell our families what we are having. My husband and I just found out yesterday the 21st. My idea was colored, pink or blue ornaments. However, my problem is will I be able to find either 3 days before Chirstmas!!! Any other creative and cute ideas would be soo wonderful!!! I have a bunch of the holiday Chinese food container gift boxes to wrap the idea in so everyone opens them at the same time.

So What Happened?™
Thannk you to everyone that responded. I think I was at Michael's and the party store and Five Below a million times the 3 days before Christmas. So I did decorate blue Christmas ornaments with stickers of boats and dolphins and decided that would not be clear enough for some of the family so I did wirte BOY on the otherside of the ornament and placed that side up in the box. I did inlcude the baby bottle with blue and white Jelly beans and added foil wrapped choclates that were baseballs, basketballs, and footballs. On the tag to the gift I put a card saying "We are having a....." So everybody got the hint this was the announcement they were all waiting for!!! I did this for all of the immediate family and a very close friend. I did end up making a plate of Sugar cookies and decorated them as Boys to announce the news to the 40+ extended family that attends Christmas dinner at my Mother's house. Happy Holidays to all and Thank you again for the suggestions!!!

Maybe you can bake a cake...use blue or red food coloring (maybe even a strawberry mix if it is a girl). Ice the cake...when you cut it open it will reveal boy or girl.

Make a t'shirt for your daughter and let her 'announce' it to the family. They'll give her a lot of attention and she'll have her first important big sister job.
Of course I'll add here that when my daughter was preggo with #2 she put a 'I'm going to be a big brother' shirt on my grandson who was around 18 months at the time. He spilled his sippy cup on the way over and I was so busy wiping him off that I have to admit I didn't read the shirt until her hubby pointed it out.

You have a good idea to give ornaments wrapped in boxes. If you can't find pink or blue, use white and write with pink or blue marker on it "It's a girl/boy!" with the year or baby's name and merry Christmas. Or get little baby pink or blue socks and stuff them with a bit of cotton, sew or even staple the top closed ( turning the tops over) and put a hook or ribbon on the corner for an ornament. If you have time you can use a fabric paint tube to decorate it or make it look like a Christmas stocking. Also, try going to a party store; baby shower decorations may be turned into ornaments? Good luck!

my brother hung up an extra stocking!!!! you have one for each member of the family and than one that says "baby or new baby"
or you can play the game "telephone" and the second to last person is you or your husband and they whisper to the last person (it should be somebody that you know will have a good reaction) and the last person screams it out to everybody!!!!!!!!!!

You can purchase from Michaels those clear glass ornaments (I just got some for the kids six for just a few bucks). They took paint (my DD of course had to do pink thats what gave me the idea for you)and put a few drops inside the ball then swirl it around - they also spinkled in some silver glitter but you don't have to - they look pretty and you can write on the glass (maybe babies due date, or name if you know it) it will always be a reminder of yout telling everyone and they are quick and very reasonably priced. Congrats on the baby!!

I bought some blue onesies to tell our family ( and it was something I could use afterwards!) Soem of my family actually took the onesies home and decorated them and gave them to the baby when he was born.

Hi E.,
You never mentioned what you are having....I don't know if you're using paper goods, but I would go to Party City and purchase either all pink or blue plates, cups, and utensils. They also have a baby aisle in the store and you could probably find little things you can pin to your guests shirts or place around your house in various odd spots and see who isn't so crazed and overwhelmed by the holiday rush and get the hint.
Good luck and Happy Holidays!!!

Hi E.
Congrats! We had our 2nd baby 5 months ago. It is so much fun!
You can buy small baby bottles and fill with pink or blue jelly beans. You can also mix them with white if you don't want all pink or blue.
Good luck and Happy Holidays.
