Need Computer Help
I am looking for a computer person who can tell me how to open a passworded document. I put a password on a document while I was had it on my memory stick since I was traveling with it. I thought I removed the password but now it won't open with the password I was using. It won't open at all. It's not important info, just a book I am writing but I can't get into it & can't find any info to help me on the Internet. It's not worth paying a lot at a computer service place but I would like to open it as I can't remember everything I wrote. Thank you!

Hopefully you only put it on as a write password and not a read password too. If so, then open the document as Read Only. Then save it without a password and delete the one with a password. If you didn't save it with the password as write only, then you'll need to find someone who's good at hacking. Also try it with caps on and/or off - sometimes that's all it is. Good luck.

B.,
My experience (as a software support analyst) is that getting this document open without the password is nearly impossible. I have seen some software that claims that it can do this, but I have never been gutsy enough to download it and see if it works. However, Microsoft will not lock you out of the file, so you can try as many combinations as many times as you need to until you get it. Usually when you change the password it asks you to retype it again, did it do this when you tried to remove the password?
Good Luck,

Hi,
I ran into the same problem about a year ago. Took it to P.C King on Ogden Ave in or near Westmont just west of 83. $35 later, my computer was password free. Takes them about an hour, tops. Good folks, look them up. They take care of all my goofy requests.
Good luck,
K.
