Need Bottle Recommendation, I Will Be Primarily Breast Feeding

Hi there,

It has been 7 years since my daughter was born. My husband and I are expecting in August and I am looking for recommendations for which bottles to use. I plan on primarily breast feeding, but I want to find a bottle to use for when I pump.

Thanks for reading,
M.

What can I do next?

Avent makes a starter set that includes two 4 oz bottles, three 8 oz bottles, a bottle brush, and two pacifiers. The avent bottles have different "speed" nipples, the speed on this set is 1 for newborns.

We used the medala bottles that came with the pump for the first six months. They worked great. At six months we switched to the 9oz Avent bottles and they are still working fine. Congrats on the upcoming baby!

The best bottles ever are DR. BROWN'S. I have had the greatest success with these bottles. They are just unbelievable. Congrats and good luck!

We used Avent and Dr. Browns and loved them both. My only suggestion is to choose a wideneck bottle. Unfortunately, this means it doesn't fit on your pump; however, I just pumped into the bottle they gave and poured everything into the bottle I fed with. I found my daughter really struggle going from breast to a small bottle because of the size of the nipple. When we switched to the wideneck, everything was SOOO much better. good luck.

My daughter is now 20 months, but really did best with the Playtex Aire bottles. We tried several, including the Avent system, but it seemed to fill her with more gas.
all the best on your pregnancy!

I had registered for Avent and Dr. Browns because they were highly recommended. I found since I mainly nursed too that my twinkies took to the Avent bottles better. I believe because they had a bigger base (like a breast). Although it was nice that the Dr. Brown's screwed into the pump so that was nice. I didn't really notice a difference either way with gas/less gas using either bottle.

Congrats!

I tried Avent and Dr. Brown's and LOVED Dr. Brown's. My son had reflux really bad and these bottles totally helped. Good luck.

We also used the Medela ones for pumping and feeding. I got the Gerber Nuk nipples to use with the bottles and, though my daughter wasn't much of a bottle feeder (she would rather not eat for 5-6 hours), those were the only ones she would take when she did take a bottle.

the Avent system is wonderful! The bottles are great and so it the pump (I have the manual and use it at work for pumping and it is more effective than the electric I had before). I actually picked it up as a back-up. She goes back and forth between bottle and breast beautifully with no nipple confusion.
