We used a wonderful company. Their website is www.childproofer.com. The owners are a husband & wife; he's a contractor and she's a nurse practitioner. They have kids and couldn't find the kind of childproofing things they wanted, so they started their company. Back when we used them (8 years ago), you could buy all the equipment from them and they'd install it for you or buy it yourself and they'd install. I bet they are still flexible about this.

I think it took the two guys who came maybe 2 hours to completely childproof the 3 bedroom, 2 bath house we were renting at the time. This included making all furniture over 3' tall earthquake (and climbing kid) safe, putting latches on all the drawers that needed them, locks on the toilets, securing the stove and fridge as well as the TV & VCR (and some other stuff too). I can't recommend them enough.

I was going to recommend them too. I used them too. They not only give you some amazing ideas but don't shove their stuff down your throat.
