Hello,

I have a 6 month old who is teething, his teeth has not come through the gums yet but you can see the two bumps on his bottom front teeth. He has been on formula for about a month , if that make's any difference, but he is drooling everything. Please give me some teething advise or natural remedies that will help.

Hylands teething tablets are wonderful. They look like little pills but they are for babies. Dissolve as soon as you put them in the mouth. I can tell a huge difference with my 9 month old within 15 minutes of using them. You can get them at the vitamin shoppe, health food stores also have them.

I let my daughter chew on a cold washcloth soaked in diluted apple juice. Also, have you been to Buy Buy Baby yet? They have more teething stuff than I have ever seen. Surely you can find something there. (even vibrating teething toys, this store is awesome!)

Highland's teething tablets! I swear by these!!!! Don't use Ambesol because that only makes their gums harder therefore making it more painful for the teeth to come through.

IF he can gum bread you might try giving him frozen waffles to chew on. The cold helps numb the pain and the slight sweetness keeps them interested in keeping it in their mouth.

I don't know if there is much you can do about the drooling. A few months ago, I spoke with a pediatric nurse who is a friend of my mom's, she said to dip your finger in vodka and rub it on the gums. She said it was the rubbing of the gums that provided relief and the vodka acts as a lubricant. Also, do you have any chew toys for him that you can put in the freezer? I getting ready any day now to go through this with my daughter. I won't use the vodka, but probably try it with water.

Hyland's Teething Tablets worked wonders for my first child-they are availible at Wal-mart and CVS for sure.

Other remedies include chilling a whole peeled carrot and letting him gum it. Crushing ice and feeding him spoonfulls since the cold numbs it. Snowcone makers sold cheap at the stores shave ice cubes fast for use this way-and you can add juice to flavor it to help get him ready to accept something besides formula.

'Course there's always teething gel and teething rings.

Another thing you can do-is give him a new toothbrush and let him chew on that. There are some nobbly semi-soft plastic pool toys that are brightly colored like sticks-they are sold in bundles-I used to buy them and give them to my girls to naw on and slobber up. When dirty I just ran them through the dishwasher and I'd chill them too-these were a big hit because of the textured surfaces...

Hope at least one of these helps you out. I've been there with a fussy baby. I think I've tried everything BUT dipping a pacifier in whiskey. I couldn't bring myself to try that one!

LOL

I liked the Homopathic Teething Tablets. The label is blue and pink. I've seen them in the pharmacy section everywhere (Wal-mart, CVS) and health food stores!

Y.,

While there's nothing that can completely take the discomfort away from teething, there are a few things that really helped when my son went through it. Two homeopathic remedies that work well are teething tablets and to help soothe during naps or at night Calms Forte for kids. You can find both at Sprouts, Whole Foods or The Vitamin Shoppe for sure. Also, letting him chew on a wet, frozen rag really helps as well. Other than that, a lot of love and rocking is definitely in your future! Good luck, it will be over before you know it!

my son is 9 months and he has gotten so many teeth and what i found helped a lot was a cold wet rag like maybe one of theones you use for his bath I just wet them with cold water and he loved it! he would just chew on the rag and it helps with the drool. Dont use the orajel or anything because it makes them drool more and they sometimes choke on it because he tries to swallow it. The cold rag works really well and tylenol if he's in pain. good luck!

My son's Dr. told us to use whiskey to rub on his gums and we did and it seemed to relieve the pain and it didn't harm him in anyway.

Hyland's teething tabs are life savers! You can even find these at drug stores and grocery stores. You can also get one of those teether/feeder systems. They are little mesh bags with a handle/chiller on oen end. Fill the bags with frozen foods like bananas and let him knaw on those. This is also a good way to introduce solid foods. I gave my son one at about 6 months.
