Need Alternate Ingredient for Recipe!

Okay, moms, here's the deal. I'm currently 3 months pregnant with my second child and the only thing I'm craving this time around is...ALCOHOL! (Don't worry...I'm certainly not going to indulge this craving!) I've never been a big drinker, but it seems I'm craving a frosty beverage far more often now that I'm pregnant! My mom used to make this frozen brandy slush that I LOVE. I know I can make it without the alcohol (and I'm hoping that will help to curb this craving of mine) but it will be hard as a rock without the alcohol in it to keep it slushy. Is there any non-alcoholic ingredient that I can add to the recipe to keep it slushy in the freezer?

What can I do next?

I have absolutely no idea on the alcohol thing, but when you have a minute check out my website. I work from home and I LOVE it. They say you need to put in at least 10-12 hours per week, but with a newborn on the way you probably won't have time. Keep it in mind for when you have some extra time (like that's ever going to happen). Best of luck with the new baby (and more importantly the alcohol replacement. he-he-he).

I think it's the sugar in the Brandy that keeps it from freezing...I know you can make non-alcoholic daqueries (any flavor) and they won't completely freeze...you can get the mix at a store and just mix it with ice, no alcohol...I know it sucks to crave something when you can't have it, so I'm sorry.

I don't really know but I just had to comment on how funny your post is! My friend craved beer the last time she was prego! I would just try it as is w/out the alcohol and see how it turns out...

i would try to heat and flame the brandy to burn off the alcohol. then proceed with your recipe. the alcohol is actually what stops it from freezing so you could use the granita method once it's made-pour into baking dish and scrape w/fork to enjoy. sounds refreshing!

If you're craving that alcohol/frozen taste, why not try to make a virgin drink like a virgin pina colada, virgin margarita, etc. - they're easy to make. Or maybe crush some ice and put some lemonade over it or some snapple or some pop. Or would a slushie from 7-11 be good? Just some ideas.
